NGD Aristides 060

I recently managed to pick up this Aristides 060.
Here’s a breakdown:
You may not know but Aristides are completely made of man made materials, the body and neck are moulded as one piece with an outer shell of Carbon Fibre among other materials and an inner core of Arium which is a material engineered to be as resonant as possible by containing thousands of microscopic air chambers.
The fingerboard is made from richlite.
The finish is their Gloss Deep Blue Sky Sparkle and it’s so much better in person, it shifts depending on the colour or the brightness of the light it’s in.
The 24 stainless steel frets are polished masterfully and there is no sharp fret ends, the frets are actually not as crazy jumbo huge as I thought they would be.
The Original Floyd Rose is incredible however I believe it could do with some love in the terms of a 42mm Titanium Block, Titanium Saddle Blocks, Stainless Steel Saddle and Intonation Screws just to make it even more badass.
The Hipshot tuners are great but that goes without saying and this is a floydie so hopefully don’t need to use them often.
The Bareknuckle Aristides Custom Pickups are based on a Holydiver in the Bridge and the Emerald in the Neck however I may be incorrect, however they sound incredible the emerald has a fairly smooth warm high end without being muddy or inarticulate which makes it ideal for leads as well as clean tones, the Holydiver is based on high output pickups from the 80s as far I know, it’s tight and has a nice amount of cut in the high end for me personally however I can’t wait to see how these pickups react in D Standard with NYXL 10-52s.
The compound 12-16 radius is almost home for me due to my love of my USA WR1.
The neck shape is truly wonderful, I don’t know how to describe it, but alongside my Holcomb SE it’s my favourite neck up to this point.
The zero load tone circuit is a cool feature that I’ve only seen on Misha Mansoor of Periphery signature model.
In conclusion this is the modern electric guitar and one of the final forms of the superstrat if you ask me.

Looks like a slick blue racing machine with a dive bombing Floyd Rose. What a setup and great looking axe.:)

Beautiful guitar! Forum member orpheo works for that company.

I've never used sevenstring.org as a user since I don't play sevens but sometimes browse it to see boutique metal oriented guitars.

Re: NGD Aristides 060

ah, another Arium Addict! ;) I love seeing Tiddies out in the world.

About the floyd... Yeah, no can do on the 42mm block cause the body is only 40mm thick at its thickest point. A 42 block would protrude through the back. Stick with 32mm and you're good to go :)

Re: NGD Aristides 060

zero load tone pot... That would be new? Haven't that seen pop up. Might I ask you for a pic of the inside of the guitar? Just for laughs 'n giggles.

do you mean the space around the Floyd is 40mm or the thickness of the body itself is 40mm because as far as I know the 42mm refers to the thickness of the block and not the length however I may be wrong.
I'm out at the moment so don't have access to the guitar at the moment but sure I'll take some photos.
the circuit works thusly:
when the push-pull pot is down the tone control is disengaged from the circuit and removes a load from the circuit leading to a little extra high, when the pot is pulled up then the tone control is engaged and works like any regular tone control.
the only gripe I have with the guitar is that the volume pot is such low friction that I find myself sometimes turning it down when I hit it by accident when playing.

Hi,

no, sorry. 42mm refers to the length of the block, not the thickness. That would be, frankly, totally insane because 42mm is over 1.5 inch and no block is that thick. The thickness of the body is 40mm and the blocks are 32mm (floyd rose and hipshot trems alike). The 010 is the exception, that guitar does need a 42mm but the 010 has been discontinued for a while now :)

About the circuit: my bad, I was thinking of a no-load POT, not a no-load circuit.

The pots are MEC and are, indeed, very, very smooth turning.

(I work at Aristides, hence my interest and knowledge of these axes :) but don't regard me as the official spokesperson cause I'm not! I'm just a guitar-nerd who happens to work there haha)

Re: NGD Aristides 060

I had a chance to play one at NAMM early in the year, and was amazed. I dig what they do. I look forward to different body styles and designs they come up with made out of that stuff.

Futone also offer 32mm and 37mm Titanium blocks so will consider those options as well, the misunderstanding was just me being stupid.

Gorgeous guitar!

I'm so curious about these - have been fascinated with them since I first learned about 'em coupla years ago. I'd love to try one but they're still very rare here in the States.

Hoping they'll start to show up on the used market, but I suspect nobody who gets one will want to sell.

I got mine used for nearly half the cost of the what it would cost me to buy new in Europe.
