NGD! Back to the 80's

Re: NGD! Back to the 80's

Very sweet axe. The Schaller Floyds are actually great trems - if it stays in tune and the knife-edges are good, I'd keep it in service.

i just pulled the term out. the knife edges look good, other than some slight dirt/rust. I wiped them off with a rag best i could

That guitar looks hot! I remember the 80's well.

If you can remember it, you werent there.. hahahha

OMG! SWEET AXE!!!! I love the lower line reissues of those, but that one is so much better! Red logo, single pup in the neck.. WOW!!

Re: NGD! Back to the 80's

agree with keeping the trem, schallers are dandy!! That logo inlay makes it pretty unique as well..

Re: NGD! Back to the 80's

The guy I got it from bought it from Grover Jackson in the early 90's and he said on the bottom of the guitar, Grover drilled 2 holes and filled them will lead. Apparently he was experimenting on weight and resonance. The guitar weighs about 9 or 10 pounds, but its very loud acoustically

That's really interesting. I wonder how it sounds compared to an close to identical Jackson without the added weight? Kudos to Grover for experiementing. I read that he likes swamp ash today. I read an interview with him years ago and he said that heavier guitars like hotter pickups if I recall. Nice guitar BTW.

Got this one a few months back, I guess it to be some kind of reissue of your model, this one is made in Japan. JB sounds alright on this one, but I'm considering changing it to a PATB-1. Find the trem a bit lacking, will probably swap for a Schaller Lockmeister.

Is the fretboard on your also compound radius?
