Just got this Backlund 400. Waited about six months for it to be built. Haven't really test flown it yet, only tried it out at apartment volume. Plays nicely though. The neck is a just slightly narrow but deep enough that it doesn't feel tiny like my Albert Lee or something else that's noticeably small. It came with 009s; will have to string it with 010s and play it loud for a while to get a real handle on the tone & personality, and see what it feels like when she comes alive at volume.
Very pretty though. Love John Backlund's style, his designs all have a retro-futuristic look that really appeals. Finish has a lovely deep gloss, and the build quality seems fine. It doesn't show up in the cellphone pic but the rosewood has an interesting grain character that looks more like an older guitar than a brand new one. Quite light: 7½ lbs. Nice and lively with the wraptail bridge. Slightly neck-heavy, not SG-heavy but I may move the strap button to behind the heel like I do with my Firebirds. For some reason it's about two inches down along the back edge. Don't know why- esthetic reasons, maybe?
Anyway thought I would share. I've wanted a Backlund for a couple of years now. Definitely a departure from the ordinary.

EDIT: I linked to the pic on Imgur so it'd be right side up now.
