NGD: Baja Tele

I NEEDED A TELE!
So I bought one on Saturday, for 675 EUR, B-Stock. I don't know where the wear is and I don't care.
It's a great sounding guitar and my other ones will stay in the corner for the next days.

The S1 switch allows lots of tonal varieties, that's what I'm looking for, combined with the classic look of a blonde ash tele. I was looking for Nashville Teles, but they're not available with ash body and maple neck nor blonde finish - so the Baja is the perfect choice.

Cheers from Germany

The neck profile on those is very good. I suggest investing in a set of compensated brass bridge saddles. You may, eventually, feel the desire to change to American pickups. I recall the stock MIM ones being microphonic and sounding ever so slightly thin.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Yeah, I love that baseball bat neck. Fender.com says the pickups are Custom Shop (or at least Custom Shop designed), until now I'm 100% happy, we'll see how it will develop over time.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Pay me no mind. I am a Blackguard/Buchanan obsessive. For me, the Fender '51 Nocaster set and SD CS '53 Tapped Tele Lead are the only pickups. Grudging acknowledgement for the SD BG-1800 and the Sixties style units on the Fender OGRW Tele-bration.

Congratulations Edlennon, I've been GASsing for one of those for a while now! :32:

Aren't the Baja pickups a CS-designed "Broadcaster" and a Twisted Tele? Much better than the standard MIM ceramics. I put a Twisted Tele in my MIM Standard (with a BK Blackguard Flat 52) and I like it a lot.

They are, Simon.
I've played it on every song of our rehearsal yesterday. I love Country (Rock), but it did also work for heavier stuff and I had a wonderful Gilmour-Sound on the neck pickup.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Nice looking Tele! I see you are enjoying it already. :headbang:

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Nice geetar brother.;) I can relate to your Tele love.:10: I bought my '52 AVRI Tele back in 2006 and it has a very thin neck. It sounds like you have the U-shaped profile neck which is much thicker and a different feel. And lot of people seem to really like that neck profile. Enjoy your guitar.:)

Me included, but I must get round to re-assembling it. I started fitting a BKP Blackguard in it over Christmas 2012, and never got as far as soldering everything back in. Never mind, I'll be back home in September, maybe it'll get done then....

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

It's kind of a V-shape I guess, I dunno exactly, but it feels great, fat and beefy.
10 years ago I didn't like Teles because of the look, but with my passion for Country, Southern Rock, Eagles, CCR and whatever I learned to love 'em.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Congratulations. To me, that's the best standard-production Tele Fender has made since the '50's. Every feature/spec on it is perfect; I wouldn't change a thing. If I didn't just make my own Teles now, I would choose that guitar hands down over any other.

I didn't like teles either, for the longest time.

Then I put together one with a 1" U-shaped neck.

That changed my mind completely. IMO the telecaster is the platonic ideal of electric guitar. Or, rather, a telecaster with a humbucker in the neck that you can do series/split/parallel with. That is near perfect so far as I can tell.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

Many Tele enthusiasts feel the Baja is one of the best Telecasters out there for the money. The pickups alone are excellent. Note that they started putting the same pickups in the American Standard line in 2012.

Re: NGD: Baja Tele

I was wondering how many different sounds are possible, even with SCs.
Even Jari Mäenpää of Wintersun uses a Tele for some songs:

I nearly used the Tele for 100% of our songs, just took my Explorer for some beefier sounds.
