NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Never really been an LP guy, despite trying quite hard. So I figured if this guitar won't do it for me, no Les Paul will.

1991 40th anniversary LP.

It has everything I could want in a LP - nice heavy body, black with cream plastics and gold hardware, and an ebony fretboard. I'm going to go with a set of 11-56s and put it in D/Drop C. Once I get a set of noiseless Fralins, this thing will straight up rip.

Aaargh,pics aren't showing for me...
Dammit.

'Grats!!! :D
If I got a birthyear guitar,it'd be "Vintage"/expensive... :p

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Or, as in my case, from a decade not known for quality instruments (damn you, the '70s!).

My dad had one years ago, and I had an Agile PRS clone.

As to what happens to them, I can only speak to my personal experience - I grew up.

My 75 Custom slayed every Henry J Gibson era I owned at the time.....still got the 75, not so the later ones.

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Good choice. I'd like to own that one. I remember liking it more than the Jeff Beck version because it had the TOM bridge instead of the stop tail.
[edit] oops, I was thinking the Beck LP had P-90's.

I don't know much about the noiseless Fralins, but I'd probably go for the Duncan SP-90 1/2. I know they sound great in my Godin.

Normally I'm not averse to noise - I have more single coil guitars than convinced - but I'm going to be using this guitar for some pretty heavy stuff with more than ample gain. I think noiseless is the way to go.

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Great looking guitar, congrats on finding such a cool birth year piece.

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

You literally stepped up to the plate in the top of the ninth, down 3 runs , bases loaded , on a three balls two strike count, and blasted a home run out of the park with this one.

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

MetalManiac called it right!! Nice axe!!! Congrats Artist Formerly known as Agileguy, now Gibson guy!

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

^ :p

But yeah, a "Birthyear" guitar is sth I've wanted for more than a decade but proper Kramers (or Charvel / Jacksons, not picky) from the 80s are HARD to find here, those that still have them are gonna be hard to part with 'em... :(

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Congrats! I've got 2 birth year rifles, but never thought about birth year guitars!.....

Thanks for putting that idea in my head now..

Re: NGD - Birth Year Guitar

Nice looking find. Classic rawk machine right there. I would take that pickguard off but that is just me. Wish I had a birth year guitar but '61 Strats, LPs/SGs, or maybe Hummingbird is up there in birthday money. :eek5:
