This guitar has been on display at my local Fender dealership for over two years. The proprietor has actually had it stashed away since 2009.

I am told that this edition is limited to 200 examples. I don't care about that. I just needed to replace the customised CIJ Jag that I sold to a friend last week.

For some unknown reason, the guitar is shipped sporting 10-46 roundwound strings but there is a set of 11-52 flatwounds in amongst the case candy. The REALLY stupid thing is that the flatwounds have Fender Bullet ball ends. For what it is worth, when I give the guitar a proper set up, it will receive 12-56 roundwounds.

While all the hardware is up to remove the string mute, I might replace the fake minty green pickguard with something more convincing.

OOOH, a "thin skin"! Looks like an FSR model. Probably a run for Wildwood Guitars. I've got a AVRI 52 Tele Thin Skin with the same Limited Edition neck plate. Coincidentally mine is also from 2008.

Nice score ! Jags have been on my radar again recently as somehow I got into the new album by Johnny Marr and then saw the video about his signature Fender Jaguar with BKP pickups (last time I looked, it seemed the BKP Johnny Marr Jaguar pickups are only available in his sig guitar from Fender, and are not available as a part of the regular BKP range, but that may change). I now have a ticket to see Johnny Marr in Melbourne on the 4th January next year, something i'm looking forward with much enthusiasm.

I've owned a couple of Jags years ago, and the break angle over the bridge is too shallow to keep light gauge strings in place. I see there is now a device that can be screwed behind the bridge and provides a bar under which the strings must pass between the tailpiece and bridge to create a better break angle for lighter strings. I forget what this device is called, unfortunately.

Dat's because it is one. :)

Probably a run for Wildwood Guitars.

I'm in the UK. My example came through the regular Fender (UK & Eire) distribution network. My Jag has the matching headstock paint job.

That would be the Buzz Stop.

Personally, I want the buzzes, squeaks, creaks and metallic overtones that only a Fender Jaguar can offer. It is a reference sound. Surf, Punk, Indie, Spaghetti Western, whatever.

For many listeners, the Jaguar is associated with certain specific musical genres. I like to introduce that evocative sound into contexts where it is not expected. This morning, I have been mostly abusing the Jag through the overdrive channel of a Blackstar HT-5H and a BOSS '63 Fender Reverb pedal. The floating vibrato is nicely set up. The outcome sounds like Dick Dale meets Adrian Belew. The same settings with overdone plectrum sounds like Noko of the group Luxuria.

Yes, that's the doohickey. If you're going to use big strings, you won't need one, but they'd be great for using something regular like 10-46 strings and planned on doing a lot of string-bending.

Despite being something of a Magazine afficianado, I'd not encountered Luxuria until today. Found this...

You don't see an Ovation Breadwinner very often in these parts.

Oh and we definitely need to see more of the new Jag :)

I see your door handle and raise you an even tighter close-up. :D

Followed by this unhelpful angle.

Then, the boring, obvious shot that you wanted to begin with.

Nothing can bring a Kam out of the woodwork like a sexy Jag.

Nice score, chief! Enjoy it. :beerchug:

Re: NGD: Brand new 2008 Fender FSR AVRI '62 Jaguar

Kam. Do you still have your Super-Sonic? Also, is it a left-handed example or do you play a right-handed model upside-down?

Re: NGD: Brand new 2008 Fender FSR AVRI '62 Jaguar

Yup, still got it. It's a righty that I play upside down. As far as I know, there never was a lefty version of that particular model.

Your turn, TLD. Let's see the rest of that car. :D

Re: NGD: Brand new 2008 Fender FSR AVRI '62 Jaguar

UPDATE - I finally got the opportunity to perform some upgrades on the blue monster.

1) The SD Antiquity I and II pickups that used to be in my CIJ Jag.
2) Staytrem replacement vibrato arm and bridge - the same hardware as supplied on the Fender Johnny Marr signature Jaguar.
3) A gratuitous white MOTO pickguard.

The sound is now so meaty that I can use it for convincing Keith Richards overdriven chords. The Bass Filter "strangle" switch actually does something useful.

Nice score! Count me amongst the Johnny Marr followers that first thought of him whenever pics of Jaguars are shown. "The Messenger" has been in constant rotation since the day it came out. I love that album religiously and there's nothing quite like that Fender single coil shimmer and clarity!
