NGD...But not happy

Ok. So I finally got the Jackson I've been wanting. Looks great, neck feels great. But, there is a fret buzz on the D string around 2nd fret. The real pain is the neck has to come off to get to the truss rod. Just like the older Fenders and I think some Charvels. Not sure what to do. I've taken the neck off like 15 times trying to get rid of this buzz I'm beginning to think its not the truss rod adjustment, maybe a bad fret. Frustrating because of the Floyd having to be adjusted and the neck having to come off every time. I'm afraid that if I return it I'll just be dealing with the same problem again. Any suggestions on the fret buzz? image.jpg

Re: NGD...But not happy

The best solution is to find a good tech. The fret probably is a little high, and if one is bad they might all need a little leveling and dialing in.

Sorry you're having to deal with that. I know it's disappointing.

Re: NGD...But not happy

Once I had disassembled the neck on my Ibanez, I was shocked to hear by the dealer that I had just voided the warranty. If your guitar had perfect fretwork and its problem was back bow in the neck, then the buzz most likely would appear on 1st fret high E. So I agree with Lazarus. Its a stunning guitar to look at!

That's the one thing I hate about that guitar, taking the neck off for truss rod adjustment. Other than that I love mine, I did swap the pickups for DMZ Gravity Storm/Area67/Injector. Hope you get it sorted out soon

I would hate taking the neck off for truss rod adjustments. That sounds like a pain in the butt.

Re: NGD...But not happy

Have you considered shimming the string locking clamp/nut device?

So sorry to hear about that! Loved the Adrian Smith models that I've played!

+1 To taking it to a reputable guitar tech, sounds like some fret leveling is needed IMO.

^^^ I think OFR is radiused at 12" stock. It could be but if it was the case, it would affect higher frets more than 2nd fret.
