NGD, ChAoZ - Icarus

ChAoZ

Luthier Extraordinaire
I really liked the look of that Ash RG670 in the new Ibanez Genesis range ,I have gone off trem equipped guitars lately as I try out different tunings and this is made much easier with a hardtail so I merged in some Blackmachine styling
One piece Ash body ,Ibanez gio neck re-profiled down from 21mm to 19.5mm and oil finished ,frets leveled and polished ,Dimarzio D Activator-X ,tone is also a kill switch ,Gotoh tuners and straplocks

Re: NGD, ChAoZ - Icarus

Looks nice. I like it being kept simple. I keep seeing a lot of GIO in the used market, many if not most barely used for few months. Always thought they would be a decent base for spare parts for a project guitar.

Nice; always love natural or translucent finishes on ash bodies. How's the DiMarzio in it?

Thanks for your kind words everyone ,The Dimarzio sounds wicked in this guitar first time I have tried a D Activator-x , huge bass to round out the brightness of the Ash and unbelievable sustain ,I find high output pickups and Ash go very well together

Re: NGD, ChAoZ - Icarus

wow that's awesome, I like the bare bones approach.

How much are you looking at selling this one for?

Re: NGD, ChAoZ - Icarus

nothing beats a nice piece of ash. Very cool project!! i bought my son a gio. once I replaced the tuners and the pickups, (Bill Lawrences) its a pretty nice guitar. my youngest daughter has it now as my son never really got into it.

Re: NGD, ChAoZ - Icarus

Got some better shots of the guitar outside in natural light today ,the shellac in the grain seems to have come out in the last few days - looks much nicer ,dropped the pickup down about 0.5mm - amazed at how much difference this made must be in the sweet-spot now
