NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

The necks have an amazing broken in feel to them. They're quite flat, but not as full on as a Wizard neck. Its oil finished too so very smooth and slippery, but prone to picking up dirt and natural oil.

The fingerboard edges are rolled on too, even moreso than US strats. At some angles its almost scalloped looking.

Not sure if there's different configurations - maybe the Wildcards are different?

arent those compound radius necks?

Sorry when I said flat I meant the neck shape - they're like current American Standard Strats in terms of shape, but after they've been gigged for the last twenty years.

The Charvels are 12-16 compound radii.

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

how are you supposed to make neck adjustments without taking off the strings and then taking off the neck?
why did they make the adjustment screw so difficult to access?
at least they could have made a little rout in the body to get to the screw, no?
is there another reason for doing it this way, other than to be a total pain in the @$$?

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

nice!!

I am new to Charvel (new to anything not Fender) and I am building up my own San-Dimas era guitar. I've got most of the bits (except the volume pot/wiring -haven't decided what to do there yet) - just have to put drill in hand (yikes!) and get to it!!

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

that promod is great! I didnt see a pickguard though and I thought all promods had a PG, or is that the san dimas? :P

anyway, love it :)

The CHARVEL So cal models all have a PG and the San Dimas models do not.
I made my so cal from a HH to a Hss and love it, Putting in two duncan STK-s5's i bought from metalmaniac and it has a really old SH5 in the bridge. thats why i own both models so i ca have 2 singles and a hummer in the one and the other is two hummers.
My pro mod san dimas has a JB/59 set in the pic, warren demartini tone galore!:)

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

That guitar looks great. That's the colour I'd have if I ever got 1 :)

I also agree with you on the 59s, I've never liked them. I find them far too bassy/woolly and scooped too. A Pearly Gates may be something to try in it instead if you so feel the need :D

I didn't like 59 in my Charvel either :)

Re: NGD - Charvel Pro Mod

Yeah the neck adjustment thing is a pain in the a$s Snoogles, but apparently its traditionally Charvel. Hopefully I won't be needing to adjust it more than once!

Brow/Bloodrose liking the suggestions. The PG was always on my radar, but hadn't considered the A4 mag before. Do you guys think that a PG would balance with a JB? And if I go A4 does it affect the sound dramatically when soloing ie thin sounding?
