Ledvedder, First of all, AWESOME guitar!! I love my charvels!! And, incidentally, I have a 59/custom 'brid in my white one. It is a great pickup! IMO, there is more warmth than a JB, (JBs are great in the right guitar and I have one in my 80s Kramer that kicks apples!) But the 59/custom has the soul of the 59, but fills in the mids and has a kick to it for harder stuff. Its a great pup that covers alot of ground.

As far as the tremelno. (sp?) Ive used wood blocks and several other methods. You can also go with a regular trem stop also. less complicated and no issues like mentioned above and simple installation.. My Kramer came with one. I had to take it out when I put a large block in tho.. Have fun!

Thanks man! I've read that since the 59/custom is so clear, that it can get harsh under higher gain stuff. Do you experience that?

If I were you, I'd send it back while you can. Had a tremol-no in my Charvel for a while. It's a cool idea but it does not do what it's supposed to do. The thumbscrews aren't strong enough to really lock the trem in place. They will slip. When they slip, they scratch and deform the shaft of the rod. A couple months (or years if you're lucky) of that and you end up with a trem that will never return to true because the unevenness of the rod scrapes the inside of the little block. Very annoying.

I've since gone back to just leaving the trem floating all the time, but wish I hasn't wasted my money.

I've had one in for 10-15 years with no problems at all.

Nothing comes through the amp, so no issues as far as I'm concerned.

I dont notice any harshness. But people's opinions can vary.

I don't notice any harshness with the Hybrid, either. It might be too high.

I agree with Mincer. The JB tends to be a one-trick pony. Sometimes it sounds great, sometimes not so. But the hybrid is very versatile and has a very pleasing tone, like a '59 that's gone through puberty and has some body to its voice, or like a '59's big brother.

Great clarity, very articulate, good highs but not piercing, more mids than the '59, a bit more power when needed, splits extremely well.

Give me a hybrid over a JB any day! (Although I do have one guitar with a JB in it that sounds super...I'm not necessarily a JB hater).

I replaced the Distortion with a JB and installed a Tremol-no. This guitar is just about perfect now.

Very well stated! Its been awhile since Ive played my JB loaded guits, nor do I have any guitars with 59s in the bridge (lots of neck 59s!) so I didnt want to try and make a comparison.

This is great to hear!! Glad its tripping your trigger! In the right guitar, the JB is incredible. I have a stock one in my 80s Kramer and wouldnt dream of swapping it. Im sure that is why the JB has been around for ever, a staple in many guitars/guitarists arsenals and heard on tons of recordings
