Picked this up used today from the local Music Go Round.
I can honestly say I very impressed with it. Plays, feels and sounds great.
Set up very well. good action. No buzzing. Neck and pocket have a tight fit, No gaps. Pickups sound very good. Very nice quack to them. I especially like the neck pickup.
It's in like new condition. Not a scratch on it. Excellent finish.
I read many reviews and seen the youtube vids on people praising these guitars. i can see why. They really are a great bang for the buck and even better when you can find one used.

Nice guitar man. I've been wondering about these classic vibe strats and maybe getting one someday and putting in some upgraded pickups. The 50s one looks great. They get great reviews. Do you know how it compares to a Mexican fender?

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

I'll be honest, I really don't know how well it compares to the MIM. I have little experience with them.
I've always been more of a neck thru supestrat or a LP type of guy.
My main guitars are Carvins.
i just recently started getting into Standard type Strats.

They had one white MIM there for $599. Just more than I wanted to spend. So, I didn't even bother trying it.

I do know this is the top line of the Squiers. So, I'm sure it over laps into MIM territory. I do, know it's light. about 7lbs.
Which seems lighter than some of the MIM or other Squiers I've remember trying in the past.

As for the pickups, I think they're pretty darn good. The 50's have the Alnico 3 magnets. They do seem a bit brighter. more suited for cleans. The 60's have the Alnico V which I heard is fuller sounding. More suited for dirty tones.
Either way, most reviews I read say that the pickups are good and one should really give them a try before swapping out. Or at least good enough that a swap isn't needed right away.

Definitely go to some stores and try them out. See which one (50' or 60's) fits your preference better.

I not sure what year it was made. Fender doesn't have a product dating for the MICs on their website yet.
If I was to guess, from the serial # and how they did the MIK and MII SNs, I would guess 2012.

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

CV series Fenders are serious bang for the buck. Perhaps the best out there. Nice score!

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

Thanks, JeffB.

They had a LTD ST213 that looked fairly new right next to the CV and priced about the same. No comparison. The CV build, fit, finish, playability was way ahead.
Normally , I expect LTD to be above Squier in quality. Not in the case of the CVs. These CVs are just incredible.
I seriusly thinking about keeping an eye open for a '60s CV which has the Alnico V instead of the Alnico 3 pickups. Just for one with a bit different sound.

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

The classic vibe series are AMAZING. I haven't tried that model specifically (the painted headstock always turned me off) but every one that I've tried has been amazing. Theres a blind demo on youtube that Chappers and Anderton did, where they tried out a bunch of tele models with a blindfold on, and to their ears/hands they kept assuming the Squier 50's CV was actually the custom shop blonde tele they brought. Really really high quality guitars, and not just for the price. Easily better on average than MIM stuff, and if you play around to really find a good piece of wood, you can get them sounding better than the American ones.

I have a CV 50s tele myself, one of my favourite guitars.

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

That's one thing I did notice compared to the other Strat styles I checked out in the store. The CV unplugged was definitely louder and more resonant than the others.
Did not sound dead at all. I'm going to have to check out that video, thanks for the heads up.

Re: NGD: Classic Vibe Strat

Congrats on the new Strat! Some of the Squiers are just as good as MIM's imo.

I used to have a Standard MIM Strat and have tried out a couple of the Squier Vintage Vibe Strats. For the most part they're comparable. Fit & finish are on par with one another, although the VVs have a little more visual appeal, and their pickups sound better than the ones that my old MIM Strat had, IMHO.

And nice score, OP, she's beautiful!
