NGD - Ed

Re: NGD - Ed

that's what the lacquer taste is? weird

I am dying to try out something from the Navigator line now

Yeah, never played a Navigator, but hear they are stellar! I can imagine, the normal ones are so good. My next axe (unless I give in to a moment of weakness and blow my load) is going to be an Edwards V. I love one model of V they make. Looks just a gibby, but has block inlays. Duncan pups.. (JB and 59 or Jazz) The ONLY negative is that they have pickup rings on top of the pickguard.. Im actually mixed about it. almost looks more 'finished: than a gibby, but .... Anyhow, awesome axe..

Those Edwards you are talking about are copies of mid to late 70s Gibsons.. small block inlays, rounded headstock, and pickup rings are neccessary because they have a different style of neck joint and the fretboard is raised off the body..so the pickups sit a bit higher and need the stability of the rings.

Great info!! Makes sense! I thought maybe it was just cosmetic or a way to differentiate themselves. Thanks alot! You played one?? If so, how are they? I mean, Im sure the build quality, but Im talking bout the feel and all, with that type of layout?? Ive only played more modern gibson V's. Faded and the Trad Pro V thing.. (which I love!!)

Yes, the Edwards Sykes that I sold to BR was a great guitar, great neck, thinner than a Gibson LP neck, but not Ibz thin. Sounded great too, a little on the heavy side but no worse than any LP Custom I've played. Sounded great too, wonder where she is now...

Yeah, was awesome!! Had it at a bad time when I was having to roll stuff to feed the kids.. Sorry Bro! Hated selling her.. Been wanting another ever since..

Ive played the old Gibsons, but not the Edwards models. I came very close to buying one years ago, but having been disappointed overall in my previous Edwards and a broken headstock on fernandes/burny explorer that neither ems or usps would own up to (and I got screwed) I decided to stop making purchases from Japan.
