I have the same guitar in vintage white! Re: speed knobs - check it out - vast improvement over the goofball cheapo witch hat thingies they ship with.

That is insanely beautiful....
The knobs look better although I can't decide whether zebra or gold-covered pickups would look better on that.....

I just ordered a second 81 for the neck slot yesterday, and will be making a parts order this weekend...
Black switch tip
Black speed knobs
Gold square jack plate (Cracked the plastic one already = WTF)
Gold straplocks to replace the black ones I had lying around
I'll post updated pictures when everything is in and installed!

They do. They're speed knobs - doin' what speed knobs do - which is turn fast and easy (like your mom).
Gold or zebra... that's why I went with both! Happy accident, really. The JB in the bridge came with a gold cover but it was unpotted and pretty microphonic. Removing the cover fixed it and that's what was underneath.
I'm still considering different pickups for it, though. The guitar has a real mean thump and the JB is kind of wasting it.

It's ridiculous. We're talking direct A/B comparisons here with Gibson USA, and the Gibson had better be one of the good ones.
