NGD - Epiphone content

So I'm not a huge fan of Epiphones in general and I'd probably never buy an Epi Les Paul or SG or any of the other Gibson standards. I guess maybe because I associate Epiphone with their own line of Semi/full hollow guitars, I was able to overcome my mental stigma attached to the brand. But, I saw this blonde ES 339 at GC. It plays great! Fit and finish is very nice too.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

My friend has a red one of those. Once I set it up and fret dressed it, it is a monster guitar. He hasn't even changed the pickups in it. But the tinkerer in me keeps telling him to do so. I have always liked Epiphone's selection. I have owned a number of their guitars. Congrats on the score. I really like that in the natural wood color.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

Epis have come SO FAR from the days when they were $99 plywood beaters. I played a "335 PRO" the other day that was absolutely fantastic. Their Thunderbird Pro's are also amazingly good, especially since they cost 1/4 of what a "real" TB does...

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

That is a beautiful geetar right there. I've been dying for an Epi 335 with the vintage sunburst finish since I first saw one.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

Epi's consistency and quality noticeably improved when they opened their factory in China. In the last few years they've been upgrading PU's and putting Probuckers and Gibsons in a number of models. They're pretty competitive these days.

Congrats.
No reason to hate on Epi, I've always rather enjoyed their guitars.

HNGD!

I played a 2014 epi just the other day. Had a sort of satin finish on the neck and back, with a gloss flame top (it was an lp). I didn't get a chance to plug it in, but it felt great and sounded great unplugged.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

I played an Epi Dot every day for about ten years and three fret dressings until the frets were ground down to nothing. They make a lovely semi-hollow.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

That's very pretty. I had an Epi Sheraton in that color back in college that I still regret selling.

Re: NGD - Epiphone content

The Blonde looks nice, I like the natural too.

Posted mine in the sunburst thread.
About a month old..........ES-339 Pro.
Seems to be the first one I pick up these days.....
Sounds like you are as happy with it as me.

Cheers
