NGD: Fender American Performer Telecaster (It's really good!)

I got a new guitar last week!
It's one of the new Fender American Performer Telecasters in a nice light blue finish.
I own a lot of rock and metal guitars so I thought it was time for something a little bit more 'traditional'.
Years ago I owned an American Special Tele but those Texas Special pickups just weren't for me.
When this new series came out I felt like I had to give it a chance and I'm super glad I did!

The guitar looks really nice with the satin finish.
We all know how a Tele looks but the rosewood breed they used here has a very nice red 'hue' to it.
Beautiful fretboard indeed!
The satin neck feels super smooth in my hand so it's a joy to play.

This guitar has tone for days!
The new Yosemite pickups sound super balanced and I don't have anything negative to say about them.
They have a nice transparent sound to them with great clarity but that clarity is balanced out quite well with a good amount of girth.
So they don't sound thin but they do have that classic Tele spank.

When I got this guitar from Thomann it was super cold and the action was very high.
I also noticed that the fret-ends were a little on the sharp side.
Since the guitar was so perfect after I got it set up I decided to just file those fret-ends myself and within 15 minutes it was perfect.
I guess the fingerboard wood shrunk a little since the guitar was built.
Not a big deal for me because everything else about this guitar is perfect.

The frets are perfectly level so I got the action nice and low.
It plays phenomenal with very little fret-buzz.
I don't know what else to say but I made a short demo video of this guitar into my new Marshall DSL 50.
I think the sound speaks for itself in this demo:

Has anyone else played one?
If so, what did you think of it?

Congrats, brother!

Teles ROCK!

When I was looking for a Tele last year, I tried the last iteration of the American made ones, and they didn't feel right to me. Some of them had fit and finish issues as well, so I ended up with the Player Series Tele and I LOVE IT. Nicest neck on a guitar since buying my #1 Strat almost 20 years ago.

Telecasters rock 'n' roll and are a must have in your guitar arsenal.;)

I took me ages to warm up to my Telecaster. For months I thought I'd screwed up by trading my Strat for it.

Good luck taking it away from me now. I'm not the biggest fan of their clean tones, but for pure, raw rock and roll they're the best guitar I've ever had.

That's exactly how I see it now! :)

Congrats OP! I'm another that took a long time to warm up to Teles, but I finally saw the light. Rock on!

Re: NGD: Fender American Performer Telecaster (It's really good!)

Could never trade my strat for a tele I love both, but I went with player series instead of American for the tele, if I was bent on American it would have, at the time, mandated me trading the strat.
My strat has a vintage radius V neck which I adore I think that was also a big factor.

Love the finish on American necks though. So smoooth

Glad those pickups are good out of the gate. The player series pickups were good for rock but the cleans were dark and heavy so I did a bridge and pickup swap to 50s-60s type stuff.

Anyways teles are great, congrats!

Yes, unfortunately it does.
