I got a new guitar last week!
It's one of the new Fender American Performer Telecasters in a nice light blue finish.
I own a lot of rock and metal guitars so I thought it was time for something a little bit more 'traditional'.
Years ago I owned an American Special Tele but those Texas Special pickups just weren't for me.
When this new series came out I felt like I had to give it a chance and I'm super glad I did!
The guitar looks really nice with the satin finish.
We all know how a Tele looks but the rosewood breed they used here has a very nice red 'hue' to it.
Beautiful fretboard indeed!
The satin neck feels super smooth in my hand so it's a joy to play.
This guitar has tone for days!
The new Yosemite pickups sound super balanced and I don't have anything negative to say about them.
They have a nice transparent sound to them with great clarity but that clarity is balanced out quite well with a good amount of girth.
So they don't sound thin but they do have that classic Tele spank.
When I got this guitar from Thomann it was super cold and the action was very high.
I also noticed that the fret-ends were a little on the sharp side.
Since the guitar was so perfect after I got it set up I decided to just file those fret-ends myself and within 15 minutes it was perfect.
I guess the fingerboard wood shrunk a little since the guitar was built.
Not a big deal for me because everything else about this guitar is perfect.
The frets are perfectly level so I got the action nice and low.
It plays phenomenal with very little fret-buzz.
I don't know what else to say but I made a short demo video of this guitar into my new Marshall DSL 50.
I think the sound speaks for itself in this demo:
Has anyone else played one?
If so, what did you think of it?
