NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

I've had the soldering iron fired up for a while here to get this stuff done and present it here.

After:

nice fat tremolo block:

All stock Fender pickups remain in there and will for now after all the wiring I did for to get the series/parallel to work on that switch.
Now has master volume (with treble bleed mod) & master tone knobs.

:cool2:

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

Before is my choice, sorry man.

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

Yeah im gonna have to agree... I like the black on black better... but hey its your axe so if you dig the new one then aces... enjoy!

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

It kinda reminds me of an Ibby or ESP Strat, and that's kinda cool. As long you like playing her, that's the important thing. Enjoy!

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

I do like black on black, ala Kurt Cobain:

But for this ace I was going for more of a white on black Billy Corgan look:

Gonna keep playing and jamming and see how well these pickups continue to get along with each other and myself. May try going the JB route for the bridge pickup at some point.

Black on black with a maple board looks gross IMO. You were right to change the guard. I would have gone with parchment myself, and matching pickup covers, but it does look far better this way.

Parchment would look good also. This one is a rocker for sure. First guitar I believe I've ever had with series/parallel option on the humbucker.

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

Nice! That's a big improvement. Black on black reminds me of oldtimer David Gilmour. The white on black looks kinda like ESP. Add black hardware and that's even better.

The tremolo block is the standard PW-29, no?

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

Yes that is the stock tremolo block in there. I was just happy that it came with a fat one. I'll probably change that out when I get a little cash flow.

Re: NGD: Fender factory special run Stratocaster

I prefer "before" myself as I've never liked the look of white pearloid pickguards. I did however used to have a chrome blue strat with dual black humbuckers, a black pearloid pickguard, black switchtip, and chrome knobs which was killer.

Looks good but like the other posters I prefer the black on black look better.
