I got a Showmaster today with Seymour Duncan's in it, I'm not completely sure which Duncan's but it sounds great, and plays great and has pretty cool switching options where positions 2 and 4 sounds almost single coilish, but different than a split. I don't know what exactly it's doing but all the positions sound really good and usable. Anyways, it's a new guitar day so I'm excited!

sweet.. showmaster is what they called a stagemaster after 2001.. Kramer had a guitar called a stagemaster in the late 80's and threatened to sue or did sue to get fender to change the name..
sweet guitar... I have a 2001 stagemaster deuluxe which plays awesome but i do dig your finish more. mine is just a solid color.. Wine Red.. The stagemaster/showmaster are very underrated model IMO . Mine plays,sounds and feels like a $1500 guitar

here is a kramer stagemaster.. i was a big fan of kramer in the late 80's so i knew aboout this guitar but was too pricy for me at that time
my stagemaster.. its the deluxe (i.e. neck-thru model) and is on par with any production $1200 guitar IMO..I was fortunate that I liked it as i bought it off the net and there was no mishaps during shipping.
id like to get another one to mod and refinish. I really prefer the H/S/H or H/S/S configuration to a HH.. but the H/S/H deluxe is somewhat rare.. besides this was an impulse buy that panned out so i really wasnt looking at the 'pup config.

Nice guitars. I agree, a very underrated/overlooked model especially considering it's a set neck guitar. Still selling very cheaply, perhaps because of Korean manufacture. Or perhaps because many mistake them for Squiers. There's an earlier American made HSS version too, but those are less common and considerably more expensive.
I have one with a bubinga top that's about the same age as yours- the Duncans are a 59n and a PGplus at the bridge, good sounding pickups for 25½" scale length. Nice body carve on these axes and they play well: nice neck and great sustain, noticeably livelier than most bolt-on Fenders.

yea.. i didnt realize that fender made a showmaster until i looked more closely.. BUT the one I have should not be confused with the cheaper bolt on versions either.. Mine only retailed for 2 to 300 cheaper than ya's showmaster and thats probably because of the 'pups as the showmaster has SD and the stagemstater had no namers and the showmaster had a more elaborate finish instead of a solid finish., almost certainly made in the same factory though.. I do agree that they just feel more lively than a fender bolt-on. I must admit that I like some of the fender showmaster models more than the one I have..well only because of the finish,better stock 'pups and the regular headstock as the quality is on par with each other otherwise.. not a fan of carved tops though..the stagemaster headstock just looked weird upside down and might of stopped me from buying the guitar if i would of thought too long... but the neck-thru looked awesome and the finish was in really good condition considering its age. Now I have a jackson that has a pointy upside down headstock that just looks right
according to bluebook. there are a few models that are quite expensive..I must assume these are the american made ones you mentioned. i know this is a 2005 bluebook but alot of the prices are actually spot on as far as the used market goes from my experience (just realized.. yep.. its in the model number.. lol) here are all but one US model.. I didnt post the HIGHWAY 1 SHOWMASTER HH (U.S. MFG. NO. 111-1900) but thats the only one if this book is complete on the models .. it had a MSRP of around 1100

yea..i like them too just the neck-thru caught my eye but if see a bolt-on, id probably try to snag one too.. 130 is indeed a nice price.. I paid $330 + 30 in shipping . A tad steep but was actually cheaper than quite a few i had noticed.. quality is quite good imo

Wow, I'm glad I posted I'm learning a lot. Guitar related history lessons are always awesome. I also have an HSS bolt on Squier stage master that I got at a pawn shop for $75. It has some dents here and there but it's a really nice playing guitar and the pickups sound good too. I'm probably gonna sell it to the other guitar player in my band to offset the cost of this new one though.
