NGD: Finally she's back to full glory!

So just before Christmas I finally scored a Korean Sheraton in the color I always wanted for a bargain price, but it needed some love. Needed new frets and the smoothing of a ding in the lacquer on the back of the neck. So now it has Jescar stainless frets, a silky smooth finish on the neck. I was lucky to pick up a set of Bareknuckle Mules for basically peanuts (less than half of the MSRP) and installed them myself. My luthier was kind enough to send me some in the process shots of the refret.

I simply love it.

Tell me about it! I am damn lucky to be one of his customers. I recall an old story of him where he "saved" an Al di Meola concert by fixing up a broken roundback guitar during the night for next day's gig or something like that. It gives me an extreme peace of mind, that anytime I leave my guitar there, the job will be perfect, done by a world class professional. Can't speak highly enough of his work. The only downside is that everbody and their mother wants to have guitars fixed by him so the turnover time suffers... But since I don't make a living with my guitars, I always tell him that he can push me back on the list and get the job done for those customers who earn their bread with the guitars.

I don't have any problems wiring in a tube amp, but for some reason the thought of hooking up pickups and/or pots in a semi makes me cringe like Shaggy on Scooby-Doo.
 
That's an awesome guitar. I love Sheratons and that one is a beaut. You get an awful lot of quality guitar for the money in a Sheraton. He did a great job on the frets...he did the fret ends like I do with a bullnosed 10-20 degree bevel (most mfrs and luthiers use a 30-35 degree bevel which wastes too much fret surface).

Congrats on a magnificent guitar!

And your kindness and respect for your luthier is commendable...a good example to all of us.

Thanks for posting this and especially for the pics. After you've had a chance to play it for awhile, let us know what you think about it.
 
Well, I mean, after a month or so I usually give him a call, breaking his balls a bit... LOL But I'd never throw a tantrum or behave disrespectfully.

You telling him that you can wait probably makes him think 'I'm going to do what I can to make it a superb job for this guy.

Absolutely love it! I practice everyday on my shredsticks, but after practice, when I just want to play or noodle, I find myself picking up that out of all. I play different things and approach things differently too. Ofc it is in part the semi hollow nature, but while I liked the blue Ibby semi, I was OK with it sitting in the case for a month without playing it. Not this one. I wanna see it and feel it every day. LOL Never thought I'd be so in love with a semi hollow...

H&K Edition 1. It's some old "special edition" I believe feom the 90s. Solid state 1x12, Made in Germany, according to the stamp only 2000 units were produced. Celestion Rockdriver jr speakers, got the whole thing for less than 100USD LOL. The Lead channel is for some mild blues at best, but the clean channel preamp is indeed pretty clean up until noon, then it even produces a light and pleasant breakup. Nothing fancy, but I love it and it is plenty enough for the bedroom. I dont think I ever went above 4 on the master volume... I really don't see the point of spending on bigger and better amps for my purposes.
