Yeah, I get that evolution feeling too. It's definitely more on the LP side than a stratocaster, but I was ABing my Gibby back and forth and its definitely more on the 'airy' side, less lower mid / bass chunk if you will. The CEs are bolt-ons, and the neck is satin, which are both my preferences. It only has the f-hole on one side.
It sounds great, but I'm still honeymooning! The infinite tinkerer in me does have a couple of questions tho. I'm still getting used to it, but I can say:
- Slightly hotter than vintage. The bridge is like a slightly thicker Custom 5. Neck like a 59, with a tiny less fluff on the bass
- Switching between them I don't get the feeling sometimes that I'm switching between 2 different pickups. It's almost like I'm turning down the tone knob when I go to the neck
- The splits are great; very usable! Prob the best I've ever encountered stock
If I had one critique it would be either making the bridge less thick/more articulate, and the neck a tiny bit chimier. But I will say, I've never liked humbuckers through my Fender Princeton (I know, heresay) but this has been one of the better experiences so far!
