NGD for Christmas

Re: NGD for Christmas

She definitely is. AND she's a redhead to boot!
She's pretty supportive overall.

I asked her what brand, but she won't say. She did say she asked at my fave music store whatvwould be good for 80s rock and went ftom there. Looking at it close, I think its got a reverse headstock....

Mine is a red head too! (strawberry.) She has a temper!! You are a lucky dude.. I got shirts for Christmas.. Not only are you getting a guit, but a super cool one too!!

Re: NGD for Christmas

All right man - open it already!!!!!!!!!! What is it? What is it? What is it?

Re: NGD for Christmas

Well, better no surprise than a guitar one doesn't like. I wouldn't even entrust our lord Jesus himself with the task of buying me gear, let alone my wife. :laugh2:

This for me. I'm difficult to buy for with regard to guitars, clothes, shoes and most other personal items. No one tries anymore..... which is kinda sad actually. Bah humbug.

Sorry, first chance to respond...

2010 Jackson JS 22 R in transparent red.
24 frets maple neck, rosewood board, HH, reverse headstock

And apparently she paid a lot more attention than I gave her credit for.... for example:

NO Floyd Rose trem. I eventually want a Floyded guitar, but only once we have the funds to buy a high end enough model to get a decent OFR, Schaller made in Germany FR, or an Ibanez with a proper Edge model. NOT in the budget, so I'd rather have the fulcrum 2 point trem. Check.

Jackson Dinky. One of the guitars on my shopping list since I started. The others are a made in US strat (not in budget), Ibanez S Prestige (not in budget, plus I have an SA)

Included gift cert for SD pickups

Fully set up with very low action

The techs and salesmen at the local music store told me she spent 4 HOURS in store picking their brains on every guitar I ever tried there and what I said or thought.

Took my guitar instuctor with her to test the guitars and pick the one he thought I would like based on his knowledge of my plaing and preferences.

So yes. It seems I married an angel.

In all honesty, this was likely going to be the EXACT guitar that was going to be my next purchase. She just happened to beat me to it.

BTW, she got chef-quality knives, which is what she wanted.

And FWIW, I understand the guys who want to pick their own instruments and gear. From my perspective though, I love the time and effort she put into this. Even more, I love the statement it makes about her supporting my choice to learn an instrument. I will never ever earn so much as a dime playing, but she doesnt care because it makes me happy. I wouldnt care if she bought me a Barracuda if that was the sentiment behind it. But the fact she did the research makes it even better.

Yes, Ima happy lad!

This also. It says a ton about your bride. I probably don't give my wife enough credit, because she does know a lot of my very specific tastes..... especially when it comes to brand and ugly sunburst finishes.

Congrats my friend and good move with the chefs knives.
