NGD...forum trade :)

"not too crazy about the stock pups (kind of muddy)"

I was kind of befuddled by the combo of the Alnico 2 490 in the neck, which was Vintage LP sounding but muddy and the Alnico 5 498 in the bridge which was screaming cut through tone.

I toyed w/pickup height, etc. until I got them to a point that they were less of a drastically noticeable leap between the two when switching and they both were in what I thought was the "sweet spot" for each pickup, but they are definitely polar opposites in tone.

I am sure that a pair of Seths, Pearlys or '59s would def. be an improvement on a great looking and playing guitar.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

gonna come stop me? :p besides, i'm not a girl. i'm a WO-man.

I love it when people's avatars really suit them.

And it's spelt 'Wow, man'.

I was kidding, of course. That's an awesome looking guitar, congrats. You have a nicely rounded-out collection now.

I agree that nickel hardware would look exceedingly badass on that beast.

Enjoy. :beerchug:

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Hey Muttz, what made you decide to pass it on? wasn't that long ago you got it, no?

Oh, and Longcat - like I told Muttz, that's not a Studio, it's a Studio plus. A little bit rarer, a little bit pricier ;)

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

"Thinning the herd" - It was a "Good" Gibson for sure. I played it every evening that I had it and was impressed and found it to be exceptionally playable, but I was in the process of reducing down to only my '82 LP and '89 Fender CS Strat Ultra Proto so the Studio Plus, B.C. Rich Gunslinger/Assassin "Graffiti" and Kramer Telecaster Custom all went "bye bye".

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

I like that it already has Schallers and a TP6 on it.

I'm still shocked that you parted that tele, muttz.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Those were my "upgrades"; Schallers came with and were a huge improvement and the TP-6 I had, also a huge improvement.

As for the Tele...it did take me while to get to the point of actually "letting go", but it was time to reduce down to two. My tastes have changed and I just didn't need the "extra" guitars at this point.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

nyyyyce!! took me 24 years (of playing guitar that is) to finally get a gibson LP. you win!

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Good times - like the gold TP-6.

Wine red Studios need to have gold.

Then again, I put together the world's ugliest guitar which featured a small mine's worth of gold, so don't listen to me, I'm biased

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Have you ever considered that you might be a dude in a woman's body?

I had your online persona pegged as a dude until like 4 days ago.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

No wonder you're so successful with women.

It's common knowledge that women appreciate a man who is forward, direct, and uses many obvious sexist phrases.

But seriously it was meant as some sort of warped compliment. Women who play electric guitars are the coolest women of all. Women who play acoustic guitars are usually jerks (exhibit A: my ex girlfriend).

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

cool!
enjoy and play in good health!

man, that's quite a chunk out of the top bout near the pickup selector - good story to go with it?

It's actually not a ding at all, but a striping of the finish or some chemical reaction to something that took off the stain.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Nice guitar, like a shiny one of mine (I have a faded Studio). :beerchug:

Now what were these favours you were talking about doing for your man? You gonna wash even more dishes?

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

You got rid of the graffitti!? Oh man. Hope it was worth it... that thing was spectacular.

Longcat, congratulations! I'd love to get a proper Les Paul one day myself.

Does anyone else hate to play the A major chord the way longcat is playing it on the last picture?
It always sounds out of tune to me that way. :banghead:

Re: NGD...forum trade :)
