NGD - Godin Progression

I scored this at a local shop's big sale recently. I haven't had a chance to play it much yet, but it's a tone machine. The pickups sound like Texas Specials. It's definitely voiced for blues. I put some Dean Markley 1975's on it (.011 - .052).
The finish is Mary Kaye blonde, slightly translucent in the center, but with an opaque burst around the edges. Cool touch. The neck feels great. I dig the maple fingerboard too.

Man, I was gassing for one of those in black a while back. Awesome looking guitars, Godin seems to know what they're doing!

Godin make the best necks bar none. They are awsome. You'll find one you get used to it that you'll be using the revoicer a lot. In fact if you have an EQ pedal you can throw it away now.

Godin is quality.

haven't played those progression models, but everything else they make plays like butter and sounds fantastic!

Matches your amp nicely . . . it's one of those newer Godin's with the 'High-Definition Revoicer' isn't it? How does that sound?

It seems to boost the output. It boosts the highs too a little, which I'm not sure why you'd need on a guitar with single coils. I really can't see myself using it much. The guitar already sounds like a great vintage Strat without it.

It takes out some of the mids but it it's more than that. It works well if you roll off the tone. On my Godin it doubles the amount of useable sounds I have.

I gave the Revoicer switch another listen this morning. It's actually kinda cool. I also took the control cavity cover off and saw that it's an active circuit. The volume and tone pots, and the revoicer switch are connected to a circuit board, and it's powerd by a 9 volt battery. The control cover has to be taken off when it's replaced. There's no battery compartment door.

Anyway, the tone with the switch on is very cool and useful, even if it isn't the one that first made me like this guitar. It's the glassy, clucky pop tune Strat tone. It adds that glassy sparkle in the high end, and you're right, it takes out some mids. It actually boosts the output though, so this more pop sounding Strat tone is actually louder than the bluesy tone the guitar gets when the switch is off.
