NGD: Got my Tele today.

This is my first bonafide Fender Tele. Neither the website, nor my photography skills, show the blue properly. It's almost a Pelham Blue. Beautiful deep "sparkle" in the finish.

I got this to do the Brett Mason mod. But now that I have it in my hands, I'm not sure I can bring myself to route out for the middle pup.

Wow, that is pretty. I love the modern bridge. If you like that style bridge you might want to look at the Babicz. Super comfortable and great to intonate and hight adjust.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Funny you should mention the bridge. I'm right at the peak of a bad cold/flu, and didn't even notice that it was a non-traditional Tele bridge. I'll check out the Babicz.
Also, one minor disappointment, the treble side of the 10th fret could double as a box cutter. Fortunately, my luthier friend can clean that up.

I filed the burr off the 10th fret, and since I need to put new strings on this anyway, I've got the Broadcaster set to toss in here for now. (STL1b/STR1n). I was pleasantly surprised to see all quality electronic components inside. CRL switch with CTS pots.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

I guess I can veer slightly off topic in my own thread, but manufacturers websites sometimes baffle me. This Tele is a Standard Telecaster, but on Fenders own website, the only Standard Tele they have is a dual HB'er. Which, to my mind, isn't a "standard" Telecaster. Just seems odd that they don't list their own standard. They have the "Player" but it's slightly different.

BTW, this isn't the only guitar related product that I've purchased brand new, and then could find no trace of on their website.

Fender recently overhauled their MIM product line (Summer NAMM maybe?); this one looks like a Standard Tele that was made prior to the change.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Yeah, my receipt just says "Standard Telecaster". Headstock says MiM. Which is ok with me.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Good to buy new every once and a while to keep the mfgs alive;)

Sidebar, my MIM Strat is the only guitar out all day all the time sitting next to my desk cause it's great and if the dog knocks it over I wont have to sell the house;)
