NGD: Got my Tele today.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

{Obi-Wan voice} You've taken your first step into a larger world. {/Obi-Wan voice}

This is my first bonafide Fender Tele. Neither the website, nor my photography skills, show the blue properly. It's almost a Pelham Blue. Beautiful deep "sparkle" in the finish.

I got this to do the Brett Mason mod. But now that I have it in my hands, I'm not sure I can bring myself to route out for the middle pup.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

My MIM Standard Tele body was routed for a humbucker in the neck position, but no middle pickup rout.

Yeehaw! Mine also is routed for the hb'er, but not the middle. But even that makes my job a lot easier. I can do the Broadcaster bridge, with SM-3n immediately. :)

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Congrats on the new guitar and hope you many hours of fun with it.

One day I will have to try out one of those and a Strat.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Put a firebird pup in there; it's the best of both worlds between a 'bucker and a Strat single.

Nope...no humbucker rout in mine☹️

Might look into a hot rails set at some point.

Agreed. I have the SD mini HB in my AmStd in the neck position and it's much better suited to the Tele than my others with full HBs in the neck. I'd actually venture to say that the mini HB is the best Tele neck pickup that you can get.

One of the customer guitars that's on my bench right now is a Tele that I'm installing a Hot Rails bridge into, with a push-pull to do series/parallel. I'll let you know what I think of her tone after I get 'er strung up.

Awesome Tele man! Look forward to hearing with with the upgrades!

Thanks Trey. Film@11. ;)

Great! I’m looking forward to your thoughts.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Missed this originally. Gorgeous axe! I have a Squier vintage modified tele. Came with Duncan Designed pups in it.
Mini bucker neck, single coil middle and tele bridge. I swapped pups and put a Duncan JD in the bridge, Dimarzio Satch track in the middle and a Zhangbucker mini in the neck.. Tones galore!!

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Thanks guys. I love the JD, but I've got a Broadcaster sitting here that I'm wanting to try. Plus, too many simultaneous projects. I need to get to work.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

I tried the Broadcaster. Cool pickup. A little bright for what I was looking for. Then I swapped it for Rumplestiltskin Black Rope 50's - overwound. Much better. Sounds like a P90 in some aspects. Then I decided I wanted to try something else and went with the DiMarzio Chopper T. The 3-way is wired for series/split/parallel operation. Fantastic pickup and the switching makes it quite versatile. It is an Esquire after all. ;)

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Does the broadcaster have a single neck or single bridge pickup

And the Esquire and Broadcaster are the same right?

The Esquire has only one bridge pick up with a 3-way selector switch with no neck pick up. The Broadcaster has 2 pick ups but had to change the name to Telecaster because Gretsch had a drum set called the BroadKaster at the time.

Re: NGD: Got my Tele today.

Nice looking Tele Artie. IIRC, Daphne blue is the Fender equivalent to the Pelham blue that Gibson used. If the finish is sparkly then it's probable Metallica Daphne blue. I have a list of all the original Fender colors and their 60's DuPont paint codes and the modern replacement color codes. I thought it listed the Gibson colors that most closely matched the Fender colors, but that must be on a list I can't find right now.

I hope the mods turn out well and I'll check back in.
