NGD - Happy 4th! It's American.

Re: NGD - Happy 4th! It's American.

Yeah..those are Shaws.

Basically Gibson said "makes us as authentic a PAF as possible using our existing components".....different wire...different mags...different spacers...etc.

They do not sound like any real PAFs I have played...but they do have their own very cool thing going on. They sound more like a late Pat# type.

She's sweet!

How do you like the Grovers? I need different tuners on my guitar, I want the Keystone buttons, but I don't want to spend a lot of money. Do they keep it in tune?

So far so good with the tuning stability. I'm having it set up with different strings and will be doing much more bending with those, we'll see how it does then

Great looking guitar.

I didn't realize Gibson did that burst treatment on the backs of the headstocks of LPs.

Yeah, love the little details! They still do that on some reissue guitars, like the custom silverburst, probably many more. The neck itself is pretty cool, 3 piece maple. I never imagined getting an LP with maple neck, but then I felt this thing and it is perfect for me. Not sure if it is the neck, but the pickups are very low output and still have a nice tight crunch. I can see why the purists would want a mahogany neck, but I'm a metal player at heart so this is a good match for me.

Re: NGD - Happy 4th! It's American.

Mmmmmm - you WILL be entering that in the Best LP category, right?

Absolutely, how do I play?

Just got it back from the shop, perfectly set up with 10-52s, zebra tim shaw in the bridge. The neck pickup has magic mojo for days, I'm still trying to get into the bridge pickup, it did not give me an immediate wow, but it is nice.

Re: NGD - Happy 4th! It's American.

A few soundclips, neck, middle, then bridge for each riff. I kept it simple so you can hear the guitar, sorry I don't actually know how to play this song but it is a simple clip of cleans, then rhythm, then lead

You might consider wiring that thing '50s style if it isn't already - really opens the guitar up sonically. It's literally moving one wire so it's an easy mod to reverse if you don't like it.
