Couldn’t resist the quality and low price on this Center Joined Two Piece Heavy Ash Tele with One Piece Flame Maple Neck, top quality hardware all around and it sounds like a classic Tele should. Plays real nice as well.

Beautiful! I have a heavy ash Strat from 1982. Weighs about 9lbs, but it is an amazing guitar. The finish is opaque, though, so it isn't as pretty as yours.

yeah, thats ash. pine is super soft, i know there were test teles made at fender way back when, but dunno if id want something that soft

If I remember correctly; did Fender recently announce that they were discontinuing or severely limiting the use of Ash in their guitar bodies going forward?

Yes. This is the case. No more new Ash bodies. The new fender line is pine.

I think the Master Built ones are still using ash. But not the normal lines. I think they went to pine because it has some sort of history with Fender, not because it is a fabulous wood for guitars.
