NGD Ibanez ART300

Saw this in the local music store CL ad. Couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Went to the store and played and sounded as good as I had hoped. Traded in my LTD KH-202 for it. Additionally it came with a really nice HSC which sweetened the deal. The pups are ok, but I bought it with the intention of installing blackouts in it. The protective plastic is still on all the covers! The maple top and mahogany body grains are barely visible. Really liking my bargain basement guitars! On to the pics! Sorry for the bad quality, new camera is on the list...someday.

Sweet... and congrats! I have an RG3EXFM1 with flamed maple top in that same transparent black color, and I always thought it was sexy as hell, but I really like that quilt!

Which store? Firehouse?

Re: NGD Ibanez ART300

I've always like the RG models. I've done plenty of setups on them and played before I gave them back. Never owned one however. This one tho, yea couldn't resist. Yep, firehouse.

Re: NGD Ibanez ART300

does it also have the wizard II neck or is it fatter?

like that quilt

btw
in my signature is my RG4EXFM1

Re: NGD Ibanez ART300

That's not a quilt, that's texture. The ART300 series are the Caiman models, they have "alligator skin" tops.

The pickups might be okay sounding, try some new batteries. Pretty sure those are AAs, not a 9V.

No kidding? I've never heard that before. It looks a lot like a quilt to me... but then too I'm certainly not an expert! What's the difference?

You can feel it. It's not a visual effect, it actually feels like alligator skin. Definitely something to get used to. I had one for a very short period of time.

Oh, okay. Now that I look closer at the OP's pics I can see the light reflecting off the "ribs" of the texture. That's kinda cool. Thanks, D, for setting me straight!

Hey Jeddie, does that texture throw you off a little?

congrats man, I have its cousin the ARZ800, and I really like it. Must sound great. Mine sounds killer with the EMG 81/60. Blackouts (non metal) must be even better.

Re: NGD Ibanez ART300

The neck isn't like the wizard, it's a little fatter but not quite a LP neck. The texture is really cool and I don't notice it much while playing. First thing I did was change the batteries. The pickups do sound really decent, I just want to put the blackouts in it.
