I've been looking for a new project guitar and came across and open box Ibanez 330T for a price that I could partscaster it out and feel good about it. It's basically a strat configured small jaguar-ish shaped body. It came in last night and I was nicer than expected. About the only thing I didn't like was the tremolo system. I'm not a tremolo user, so I'll either put a hardtail bridge or block this one up.
The one thing that surprised me was the pickups are noiseless. I was really surprised how quite it was, more than my humbuckers or my Jag in the middle position. This isn't a very well advertised feature of the guitar. They don't sound bad either. Still, a JB jr. will be the first real mod I make
After some searching this was all I could find on these pups: "Thanks to special hum-cancelling coils mounted in the body's cavity route, between the bridge and neck pickups, CORE-TONE S single coil pickups deliver clear, noiseless, traditional tone."
Does anyone know anything about this type of noise cancellation system? Is the whole system integrated? Can you change just one put (w/o changing the tone of the new pup)?
