Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

Specs:
Pickups: Dimarzio DeActivators
They are pretty good I like them but I have only played for 20minutes and haven't had time to play them at a good volume, but the neck is clean has some lead crunch tone sounds wicked, the bridge let's all hell go loose and it is amazing the distortion doesn't get all washed up, I am very impressed with the first set of Dimarzio's I have ever played.

Neck: is wizard profile and is super comfy I am not a fan of gloss but I can live with it.

Fretboard: Rosewood it is good, a little dirty since it was used heavily and I need it cleaned hardcore.

Bridge: Edge III low profile and I have the same bridge on another ibanez of mine and I love it, it is efficient and very reliable, it needs to be set up though it is super up since he had the guitar set for drop C and e standard pulled the bridge way up.

Electronics and 3 way selector: well they need to be fixed, the knobs are stiff as frig and the toggle is really jerky and not smooth (as smooth as it is supposed to be at least)

overall: 9/10 I would say it is kind of heavy but my strap sucks so that doesn't help anything so yeah I like this guitar and plan to keep it.

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

I think it's yet another case of Ibenhad ripping off Jackson.

I keep seeing people say that, but they forgot that Jackson ripped off the stealth. They aren't that much alike anyway.

Epi, nice guitar bro, I love those, I just wish they'd put something better than an edge III in it.

You'll put yer eye out, kid!

Seriously, that is very nice! I have a breeding pair of VBT700s, which are similar construction even if a different body shape. The neck-thru design gives these super sustain. I'm somehow not surprised that it was tuned to C when you got it - these things own "chugga-chugga" if that's the kind of thing you're into. Cool finish, too.

Happy NGD!

Mmmm nope. According to the designer of the Warrior, Mikey Wright, the 4 points/wings are 4 Jackson headstocks:

The Stealth was roughly the same shape (X-pattern) but noticeably more narrow and far more fluid in overall shape.

However, in Ibenhad's defense, they only kept the top horn (though it does look more like a Warlock horn). The lower front horn is more like a Kelly (though misshapen) and the rear tips look more like they took ESPee heads.

Still, it's more of a Warrior knockoff than a Stealth knockoff.

So does this mean you don't want a high end RG anymore? ;)

A high end Xiphos... now that would be a flipping good idea. All it needs is proper quality wood and bridge, the design is great already.

It's already made of Mahogany, and they had a non-trem version with a Gibraltar tune-o-matic bridge.

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

There is "mahogany" and there's mahogany. Some goes 'ring', some goes 'thud'. ;)

I had an RG321 here that was probably the most resonant guitar I've ever had in my hands, still kicking myself for letting that one go.

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

yes lol that means that and not because of the money I didn't pay a dime I traded straight and I recently bought a amp so I am fine for now, sorry lol

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

the tips are pointing a different direction and the top left point is differently shaped on mine soooo go home.

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

The mahogany mine is made from seems fine, actually I don't find anything substandard about it other than what was left of the original electronics, the nut, and the crap cosmo on the hardware.

They really are a lot different Newc, I don't think the Xiphos can be called a Warrior rip at all really. It's like saying a Rhoads is just a Flying V jack job. Have you played a Xiphos?

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

Dig it.

I watched some John 5 vids recently and he gets some nice tones out of the D-Activators in his main Tele.

Re: NGD ibanez xiphos XPT700

I am so not into pointy Metal guitars but I really like these, enjoy it
