NGD: Ibby AK80 Hollow body.

I would prefer black pickup rings and a compensated rosewood saddle. The sunburst pickguard doesn't look right to me at all.

I kinda agree about the rings. I can try black fairly easily. The bridge already is compensated rosewood. The sunburst on the pickguard doesn't bother me. But I love that it's laminated Spruce, with full binding all around. I'd never change that.

If the intonation was good I would skip the saddle. I don't like the pickguard because the burst doesn't follow the same pattern as the body. It looks asymmetric.

The intonation is good now, that my luthier has tweaked it. I get what you're saying about the pickguard. But it just doesn't bother me as much.

String update. These really aren't bad as long as I don't try to bend them. I'm learning "City of New Orleans", using Travis picking. It's helping me build some finger strength and "work" my minor arthritis. They sound good on here and generate some useable volume unplugged. Nice for late night practice without bothering my wife watching TV.

string gauge is a personal thing. i use 11-50 on all my electrics and 12-54 on my acoustics. i can play 10s, but 9s feel so wimpy they are hard to play for me. i blame slash. he was using power slinkys, so i started using them. he was tuned down a half step on a les paul and i was in std on a strat. i was also 13 and just got a guitar so didnt know any better, and now its what im used to

Yeah, I hate 9's. 10's are my go-to for electrics. Not sure if I've ever tried 11's. When these 12's wear out, I may try 11's.
