NGD! Im a Les Paul owner again

Re: NGD! Im a Les Paul owner again

It takes the custom shop to cut nut slots correctly? Yikes...

I was being sarcastic. The nut is made of Nylon (vintage correct), and I've read that nylon is a self lubricating material, so that might be why it stays in tune?? or maybe the nut setup just gets extra attention in the custom shop?.....i don't know

Ya I've never noticed that one historic les pauls until I actually got mine. apparently its a "vintage correct" thing...

Yup, my Les Paul's knobs sit a lot closer to the body. I kinda like how yours are. They look like they would be easier to make adjustments with.

Mine (2012) came with whatever cheap plastic (?) material they use now. It didn't take long before the D string wore out the slot and it needed to be replaced. I had a bone nut put in. I too noticed an improvement in tuning stability. I still lubricate every few string changes though.

They've used tektoid the past couple of years, which is supposed to be some kind of synthetic, slick material to improve tuning stability. Before, they used corian, which is a bone-like substitute material. Ive had issues with both on standard USA Gibsons
