Re: NGD: incoming...

Last guitar I got, I didn't get any tracking info, so I had no idea when it was showing up. That made it worse.

Re: NGD: incoming...

The fretboard is a little dry so I'll need to get some oil on it but that's about it as far as issues with it on arrival. I am always so scared of ordering online. It took me a while to be comfortable with this and having someone at Sweetwater actually go play a bunch of Les Pauls for me and having to trust their opinions.

Re: NGD: incoming...

Yeah, Id have a hard time ordering one on line too. What feels good to someone, may not feel or sound good to you.

I hate you!!!! j/k

That is one beautiful Goldtop. Aside from Tobacco Sunburst, Goldtop is my favorite color on a Les Paul.

I had a very difficult time choosing between gold top and tobacco burst

Like this one? LOL

It needs new rings or I need to take those off and put a proper arch in them.

It's back to stock. In this pic it had the Jason Becker pickup in the bridge. Sounds much better in my recent Frankenstrat than in the LP.

I'm in the process of getting the money together for a new geetahr and forthe first timeI'm going to order an instrument online. Sometime ago this would've been unimaginable to me, but after buying an 1000+ USD guitar from an official local distributor, I figured it can't get worse, even if order it online, from another counrty. Local distributor had me waiting 3 months for the guitar, another three for the hardcase and kept bull****ing me all along. "Oh, we're getting you a new one cause the one in the abroad depot had a chip on it" blablabla. when I made the deposit for the guitar, they told me maybe 2-3 weeks. Then it turned into 3 months and their "pro luthier" set it up for me with 4 mm action and disgisting relief, for extra cash of course(wouldn't have needed the setup, I was just being a snob and wanted it perfect out of the box. Will never ever pay for a setup again). The actual reality was that they're bottom feeders in sales figures, so FMIC/Jackson serves them among the last. Could've told me straight up and then no problem. Also, most shops over dont stock 1000+ guitars, or very few models, usually none to my liking. So I have to order it anyways if I want to take a look and if it happens so that I don't like it, they give me "the looks"...

As for the online? I'm eyeing thomann's site. They have the axe and case in stock, ships within 5-7 days to my country for free and if I don't like it return is on them... That makes it a no brainer for me.

Mmm... loves me some sweet gold top LP action. My buddy just got a new 2019 R7 gold top in at his shop. Played it this morning and it was great. Congrats on the sweet new axe OP!!!

Re: NGD: incoming...

it's gorgeous! congrats. How does it sound?
Used it last night away as bar gig and today in through a Helix. Both sounded great. It's got a smoothness to the overdrive tone that my other guitars don't quite nail. I'll be spending more time in the coming weeks with it learning how it reacts to other amps and pedals. I'll try to get some sound clips this week.

I am passionate about Les Paul. I own three of them: a 1990 standard plan top in heritage cherry, a 2003 classic plain top in heritage cherry and a 2004 standard with a flame top always in heritage cherry. unfortunately I am not rich nor have enough space at home...
