Re: NGD - Last of the year.......The Ghost that cries
The Teardrop kind of comes off as a Strat meets a V, though very comfortable to play it's kind of awkward to sit with in certain positions.
I had seen it a week ago or so and I wanted to check it out but didn't really have time. I've kind of wanted one for quite a while but they always seemed kind of a novelty to me. So I had a break yesterday and got to go spend some time with it. I was playing some old Stones tunes and I looked up and everyone in the store was like "Hell Yeah!", it was kind of funny but it sealed the deal. This thing is legit, the pickups sound great. Like a Strat but there is something else to them that really isn't
Strat, there is a cool twang and snap that is absolutely 60's/Stones-y/Power Pop.
It is in like new condition, I can't imagine it has had much playing time at all. There isn't a flaw, scratch, ding whatever on it. It is really well made, very solid. It has some weight to it but only so much that it feels like a substantial guitar. Great neck, it's a full rounded C profile with nice vintage style fretwork. I think the pickups are Kent Armstrong but I'll have to open it up to be sure. The Bigsby knock-off trem works well and it holds tune but it is a little noisy so I guess I'll need to grease it up a little. The only downside appears to be the small import pots, cheap 5-way switch and jack. Easy fixes for sure but it doesn't match the quality of the rest of the guitar and seems out of place, especially since it is assembled in the US.
I'm thrilled to have found it, I love the green and white color scheme, all win!
