Re: NGD Les Paul Classic Antique
Probably the closest you'd get to SG tone would be with one of the all-mahogany flat body LPs (sans maple cap), like the old Firebrand.
I used to have a 1975 Reissue of the '55 Special, single cut, mahogany, P-90s; a friend had a mid-1960s SG Special. My guitar had a bigger, fatter tone than his SG...though some of that was probably pickups. The SG was lighter and had a thinner body, but it was lighter and thinner tonally as well.
I'm told that chambered Historics sound very close to lightweight solid models. I've never had my hands on one, so...?
I think a couple of guys on the forum have the Les Paul Custom Lite model, and they may be a better source than I.
