This is the first time I noticed the lack of binding nibs on the ends of the frets. How long have they been doing that on Classics?

Good question. That tiny detail has just made this a much more interesting guitar. Those nibs are a pet hate of mine, and as good a reason as any for me to buy the Tokai's I have.

Re: NGD (long overdue): 2014 Gibson Les Paul Classic Seafoam Green

Nibs have been eliminated for all 2014 Gibson USA les pauls barring the Traditional. Of course, Historics and Memphis guitars still get them where appropriate.

As mostly a traditionalist when it comes to gibson guitars , I wrestled with the notion for a bit. But having spent alot of time on no-nib guitars in recent years, in practical terms it just is not a a big or even a small deal to me. The fret ends (and tops for that matter) from nut to neck pup on my Classic are all immaculately done, as good as any and better than most high end non nib guitars I have owned from PRS.

You sir, will be hearing from me for a HB sized jazz 90 to go with my crushbucker :D

Hurry up because my hard drive took its final dump so Zhangy needs a new computer. Til then I'm stuck with this hand-me-down hunka dook that lets me type emails at about a character every 1 or 2 seconds. AAAAUUUUUUGH!!!

Strange.. I personally didnt care for the color, but with the flame in the maple showing thru, its actually quite beautiful.

Congrats on a great new toy! I had (sold her.. wah!!!) 2012 "2008" model that had the motherboard in it. The negative to it, is if you want to change pups, then you have to buy Gibson pups or gut it. Its good that you like the pups! I searched high and low for connectors for them to add to other pups with no luck.
I have a bad back and should play light guitars, but I like my LPs heavy. They just feel right and sustain nice!

Looks like Gibson has taken a que from PRS on the knobs!
Enjoy that beast!

Why, what do they use? I know for a fact that EMG/duncan "quickconnect" is just PC CDrom clips (probably why duncan could use them too, without infringing -cuz emg never owned the design to begin with), so i somehow seriously doubt gibby really developed their own proprietary connector... Ask around with computer techs or smthn if you cant id it, but its gotta be some typical electronics connector they buy in bulk for 3¢ ea
