NGD: MIJ Ibanez RG-665 (1997)

Re: NGD: MIJ Ibanez RG-665 (1997)

Cool! Thanks Zerb. I think this one is going to be a "keeper". Any idea what she might be worth?

And now, of course, the search for the perfect pups. :scratchch

Oh yeah . . . I snagged this, along with the semi-hard shell case, for . . . . . . . $55.

$55 for a Japanese Ibanez is a steal! Congrats and enjoy! :arms:

Thanks BR. How's Lake City working out for you?

Thanks for the good info Juan, but why did Ibby stamp 665 in the neck pocket. Someone else may have already covered this, but I didn't reread the whole thread.

Got it's good points and bad points.. I feel kinda out of place cuz I dont drive a pickup truck with a gun rack in it.. But, seems like Jax has become them murder cap of the US. Im sorry we never got together to hang out while I was local.. Still need to freshen up my JCM800

I don't think anybody covered it.

Not sure why. my rg520 has rg570 stamped on it.

My best guess is that they had 4,5,6,7 series necks. In a huge factory, they probably had bins of labeled necks and grabbed one that worked. As long as the headstock color is correct, right?

Now, when you color match the headstock, you need a very specific neck.

BTW, nice guitar! I play my 3 RGs mostly, along with my warmoth (super strattish) strat.

I long for a road flare red or carotene orange one.
RGs are my favorite body style

True, True. Still, you don't live that far away. Maybe we can hook up some time and jam.

Thanks again for the info. I like playing mine, but I'm not crazy about the "Floyd". I tend to rest my hand on the bridge, and it goes out of tune. Now, if I could just learn to coordinate that with my playing, I'd be all set. ;)

go lighter on the touch or block it.. When I had my 570, I made a ghetto block for it.. Took a small piece of wood just the right size to go tween the front of the block and the wall. wrapped it in electrical tape to look alittle better and put it in there. The springs held it in place and I could still dive if I wanted to. I wasnt heavy handed, but I put a d tuna on mine and didnt want it scratching the finish, so I made it dive only.
