NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Is that a Fulltone Custom Shop Limited-Edition Candy Apple Red OCD Overdrive I see there?

LOL!!! Good eye!!! I'm all about red things. Picked a blem up from Mike a few weeks ago. No blemishes that I can see though.

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Funny thing is... Ive always LOVED the look of explorers, and I love mine, but for some reason I rarely play it.. I think the biggest reason is the cumbersome case. One of these days Im going to get an SKB case for it.

Dude... the case is a ridiculous BEHEMOTH!!! A giant freak of nature. One of the seven wonders of the world. Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose takes up less room.

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Theyre both ridiculous, how hard is it to just sell a non-generic fitted case? Both companies failed

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

For me personally, the Explorer is Gibson's best looking instrument far and away! Like you Red_Label, it just yells rock and metal. I have wanted an Explorer for years, but to be honest I am not the biggest fan of the 24-3/4" neck scale. I have found that 25-1/2" is what I prefer. That said, I would still get an Explorer if the right opportunity presented itself. I really love the look of the ebony Explorers, but your red one looks killer! Doesn't the Explorer some stock with a 500T/496R setup? I think the pickups you are considering would definitely be better choices if it has a 500T in the bridge.

Kind of Explorerish, I did order a Jackson Stars Kelly (has a mahogany body, unlike USA Jackson versions) and the 25-1/2" scale; so I am headed in that direction. Congrats on the wicked awesome guitar!!!

Welcome to the "Explorer" Zone!!! Great shape. I like mine in Hamer, Dean, or other branding it seems as I have not owned a "real" Gibber Explorer. :headbang:

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Having gone through nearly as Explorer types as ol’ BTMN up there, I can say it’s hard to argue with the original formula.

That pun was unintentional.

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

The Explorer is a timeless design, IMO. Ahead of its time when first introduced to the public but quickly became a favorite amongst many. Heck, even The Edge has several (go watch his Rig Rundown) and tours with them. The closest I have is my Chicago Series Dean ML. Wouldn't mind snagging the matching Z and V to go with it.

And yes, the cases for these things are massive.

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

That's Sweeeeeeet! My Explorer is neck heavy. Not as bad as a Firebird but it still bothers me. I'll try moving the strap button and if that doesn't work I might sell it.
CHEERS!

Re: NGD.... my first Gibby Explorer!!!

Refreshing to see so many beautiful explorers! Nice, fellas.

I'm currently looking for a 2001 Diamond Sparkle that was a limited run for Mars Music. I've found several listings but they've all sold. I know there was one member on here that had one, but it seems he is inactive now.

Anybody know of someone that may have one that they're willing to part ways with that may not have it listed online?

Thanks in advance!
