The flat satin finish has become my favorite thing about the guitar. The entire guitar is smooth as a baby's butt, and makes it a joy to pick up and play. That's one thing I came to appreciate, which I didn't fully grasp when just trying it out in the store.
The areas that get worked the most will result in a shinier finish, and any scratches will be like shiny marks. It's like the opposite of a glossy guitar, except you can't buff out a scuff. The textured surface may be more delicate, but it does breathe nicely like a thin finish. I'm figuring that the back of the neck will be rubbed glossy, and eventually worn thin in some areas. This is a guitar I plan to play a lot.
I'm not super-hyped on that flat finish-thats woulda been a deal killer for me.The pickup configuration is perfect though.I was about to build a Tele with Filterton styles, not a bad idea, but then I figured they demand a semi hollow.
Now Jerry you know you're not allowed to comment on other people's behavior if you were inebriated while speaking to them. I met TV in Dallas at the guitar show earlier this year and he bent over backwards to accommodate me with a purchase there and another when I got home. Now I have my TV jones ( what a jerk that guy is) pickups in a box awaiting a semi hollow body to put them into.
It's even better than humbuckers with clean tones, but the gain tones are rich and fat too. It's pretty much the Malcolm Young tone.
