I have found myself a real sleeper. Yamaha Pacifica 821DX from 2000.

Back in 2015 I visited a store near I used to work before and saw this beauty, but could not afford to have one more guitar. 5 years later I passed that store and found out she still sits in the shelf, with the decal on the headstock half peeled off. The music store looks like about to bankrupt and decided to rescue the Yammy.

So, here she is.

.......and what's a proper name for her? Deep Purple? Purple Haze?

This is going to be my last NGD post for many years.

How the hell did they manage to get the decal to peel off???

The glue probably dried and started peeling off

The store owner himself said that the decal peeled off because he applied detergent when he was doing the cleaning. I wonder how truthful was that.
Regardless, this is a very fine instrument. Not your typical shreddy superstrat because of DiMarzio Air Classics and Blue Velvet. The low output of the humbuckers allows greater clarity and dynamics, adding warmth and some snarl in the process. Then you have the single coil to add plenty of Fender flavors.
That means this guitar can cope from SRV blues to Satch/Vai shred to Govan/Lane fusion easily. A Suhr for a common man.
Usually you would not find a SuperStrat that handles all these without spending big bucks.
Yamaha's older RGX from the 90's shares a similar characteristic, only these have higher output humbuckers.

Very nice. I would think "Violet" would be the obvious name choice for her.
Thanks! That's a great name. Here is another pic that shows her distinct violet shades.
