I would personally sacrifice and wiat and save for a Traditional PLus. They are , what 2600.00? They seem to be the equivalnet of the older Standards like I have ( a non chambered 2005 Les paul TSandard with a nice flamed top).
The Standard Les paul is THE benchmark for tone and quality of all guitars ever made, and it is worth the extra effort.
On the other hand, if finish isnt important to you, I think the one you want is a great choice.You have to realize that the Gibson finish is one of the most expensive parts of the Gibson guitar. I think the finish of Standard cost 1/3 the value of the guitar.Extremely costly, but beuatiful. Add to that a select top, and I think in the long run you'll be happier with a select top Gibson Les Paul Standard ( PLus?).

?? I have a Standard & a Studio. I love my Standard. Not a big fan of the Studio. It plays OK, but there is something about it(I can't put my finger on it though) that I just don't play it all that much. I really like my Standard!!
