2010 Les Paul Standard (the 2008 specs). It was my local store's rental. Had a small ding on the back so I got a great price. Review to follow, some pics:/Users/darla1/Desktop/IMG_0031.jpg/Users/darla1/Desktop/IMG_0030.jpg/Users/darla1/Desktop/IMG_0033.JPG/Users/darla1/Desktop/IMG_0032.jpg

A cherry sunburst Standard is always a good start to any LP collection. ;)

Grats dude! I pulled my LP out today and gave her a little love before putting her back in storage. Your LP is a lot prettier than mine, that's for sure, but the love I have for mine will never die.

Happy NGD!!!

What's the little black thing on the input?

It's a Neutrix (sp?) locking jack. You have to push the button to release your cord. It's the only thing about the guitar I'm not nuts about, seems to be a solution to a problem that didn't exist. Still, it seems like a high-quality component. Just takes a day or so to get used to.

Re: NGD or MFLPD (my first les paul day)

Congrats! There's nothing like your first Les Paul! The first Standard I had was a dodgy refin job which didn't even have the "Les Paul" silkscreen on the headstock... but damn, I knew from that moment on that there was no going back.

Re: NGD or MFLPD (my first les paul day)

Do my eyes deceive me or are the keystone buttons on the tuners metal? My preference would be for the Grover "kidney" shape or, ideally, Kluson-style snot green plastic buttons.

Re: NGD or MFLPD (my first les paul day)

Thanks, everyone. I'm loving it.

The tuners are grover locking ones. I've never had locking tuners, so I got the guy at the store to show me how to use them. Certainly make changing strings a snap. I agree the buttons are odd looking on a les paul. Like the neutric jack, though, they are really nice quality. Same with the tone pros bridge and locking tailpiece. Simple enough upgrades, but nice that Gibson went to the trouble to make them stock.

Probably just my age.

To me, metal keystone tuners = Seventies = Norlin. Aaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh!
