Now for my question:
I want to change the tubes on it, I THINK they are stock and from experience, stock tubes are usually pretty lousy, so I want to try something new, this amp takes 6 Pre Amp 12AX7s and 4 6L6 Power tubes. That is staying the same but like there are different brands and they all sound a bit different, I usually use JJs but I kinda feel like trying something different. any suggestions would be great!

You open her up to see what's in it now? I have all JJ's in my Peavey JSX. Sounds great. I've heard Sovtek 12AX7 LPS are great phase inverter tubes in most amps. It did improve my Classic 30. I've got some coming and plan to throw it in my JSX to see if I notice a change. Tung Sols are popular too. Then I've heard guys who like the Chinese tubes in high gain amps.

I would say play this amp for a while, get a feel for what sounds you like, dislike, what you're looking for and report back.

The Peavey forum is also a great resource.

Great head, congratulations. I'm sure you'll work the tube thing out.

However, just so you know..... NGD=New Guitar Day

I have been around this amp for a while from buddies and I used to kinda own a 5150. sooooo I know what I am looking for, I just really wanna tighten up the lower end a bit and make the mids a little less honky

Try an overdrive pedal first.

I did, made it to harsh for my liking, like honestly it's a super minute dislike, it needs new tubes anyway as these are old so I want to try something else.

Assuming this is accurate, and I got it from peavey's site so it should be, I'd go: V1-Tung-Sol 12AX7, V2-EHX 12AX7, V3-any low noise 12AX7, V4-Sovtek 12AX7LPS, V5-EHX 12AX7, V6-JJ 5751

Power Tubes: JJ or EHX 6L6GCs

Try Eurotubes.com that's who I used for mine. All JJ across the pre and output. sounds ten times better than the Ruby tubes that were in mine and the jj preamp tubes that came in it to. They were very low quality none were anything close to being balanced.
