Re: NGD! Poll Inlcuded!

I don´t like reflector knobs. If I want something to look like a fender amp, then I`ll BUY a Fender amp.

I would do one of 3 things
1. leave it as it is
2. Black tophats (my preference)
3. Gold tophats to match the hardware (unless its just reflections that give it a goldish hue, then this option dies.)

Zerb's opinion doesn't count, because this isn't a premium Jackson. :chairfall

The taxi driver in pulp fiction that drives Bruce Willis away after he beats the other boxer when he was supposed to throw the fight.

He didn't just beat him, he killed him.

As for the axe, I like the knobs that are on there now the best.

Re: NGD! Poll Inlcuded!

I appreciate all the responses guys! I took some black speed knobs I had on another guitar to try them out and it looks solid. Still considering the reflectors though as TLD is right about the chrome matching up. I don't dig the knobs that it came with. The color isn't bad, but U like the black and/or chrome theme that's going on already. The main thing with the knobs are that the narrower top never feel comfortable to my fingers. The hardware is chrome, not gold. Sorry about the pictures being kinda deceiving like that, I'm not very gifted with taking pictures :nervous:

I liked the Scarlett suggestion for a name. I'm leaning towards Charlotte but Scarlet is a close second.

Re: NGD! Poll Inlcuded!

some guitars are dudes IMO (i have one, dystrust has three, that just feel dude-ish). that one strikes me as female, but it's hard to tell just from a picture. you just got to play it and see what it tells you about itself.

(i've named all my cars too.)

I wanted to respond to this because I agree. Guitars can be dudes. And you are right that playing and letting the guitar speak for itself is the best way. In fact, I have an example of both. My Amer. Spec. Strat has the same sunburst as my MIM Strat Sonny (dude). When I first got the MIA, it was aggressive in tone and had higher output pickups than my MIM. I thought this is Sonny's evil twin! And thus, I named him "Hugo." If you're a Simpsons fan, you'll get it.

Re: NGD! Poll Inlcuded!

Congrats man. I picked up one the day after you, a Natural finish dot. I got it for almost literally nothing. The dots and casinos are a great deal, probably the only epi's i've consistently played and liked.

I'm going to put a set of top hat tuners on mine. What do you think of the stock PUPs? My first thought was to change them, but I don't really have a serious problem with the ones in there already. It seems foolish to just buy a new set of humbuckers just for the sake of "upgrading" what already seems to sound fine. That's the problem with pickups, you'll never know what new ones will sound like until you go through the trouble of swapping them out. And in a dot, that's not the easiest task, bit of a pain. I may stick with them.

:banana:Congrats! The natural is an awesome finish on the Dot. It was my second choice after black. The pickups on Epiphones have been better in the last year or so, but to me can be kinda hit and miss. There are Epis out there that I've heard that I swore were sporting aftermarket ickups and had the stock ones! It's amazing sometimes how good stock Epi HBs can sound when you get good ones. The ones in my LP were ok, and I swapped them out for Duncans. What's funny though is that I hated the stock pickups that came in an Ibanez I have so over the weekend I swapped in my Epi LP HBs to see if it would help. WORLDS BETTER!

The stock HBs in my Dot are actually pretty solid. They actually give a good solid tone and have decent dynamic range. I would like a bit more heat out of my bridge pickup though, but if I swap it will be a while (like 6 months or more). Right now I'm pretty happy with them. If I do swap, I'm gonna wuss-out and let my tech do it. Trying to wire through an "F" hole? Count me out! My wiring skills aren't good enough to take that on!:eek5:

Re: NGD! Poll Inlcuded!

I have gold reflectors with the chrome tops on my Black Beauty and ut really sets off the hardware.
