Well after having 2 brand new defective electric guitars; An Ibanez RG421HPFM Blue Reef Gradation and a Charvel ProMod DK24 HH 2PT CM Quilt Chlorine Burst, and having to return them, I decided to order the PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar - Faded Blue Burst and give it a try; it has arrived but I have yet to do the unboxing. Here is the label on the outside box.

Interesting. I usually wait 5-6 hours after a package arrives, but that's about all. Can't say I've ever had an issue after probably 100 guitars bought new/used in my time

When I got my Jackson bass, I had it shipped to my local Guitar Center where I picked it up. They had it for at least 24 hours before I got it. So I wasn't concerned about waiting to open it.

I've never waited with any guitar I've bought. Never had any issue. But, admittedly, I had always lived in a temperate Calif climate. By the time any guitar got to my house, it had already been acclimatized.

Unless it is a nitro guitar I don’t think it matters too much.

You like blue guitars, huh!?!

Jim Root from Slipknot has several hundred guitars, one of which has been unopened for at least 10 years. He says he has no idea what’s in the box, could be a Squier Strat, could be a Gibson Custom Shop. When people come over, he shows them, then gets a kick out of them getting upset that he won’t open it.

I thought that was funny.

Hello everyone I'll have to attach some pictures later but so far guitar has been good except for the high string height and sound of the pickups. My other guitarist lowered string height last week but it's up again, the pickups have a lot of bottom end and like blanket over the speakers sound to them

Are you going to replace them or send the guitar back?

The guitar is really nice, my other guitarist lowered the string height as low as he was able to get it but it feels like the string height raised since week before last. A lot of people have been recommending the Seymour duncan hot rodded set, which i already have that set in my Epiphone les paul in my signature, so I'm wondering at this point, should I just get that set and maybe have the 50's wiring done or attempt to lower the pickups and try adjusting the pole pieces which is something I've never done or attempted. I'd like it too when I roll the volume control down not to lose brightness and not get muffled sounding

It is worth adjusting the pickups before replacing them, but if you are going to replace them, I'd think about what you want out of a new set. Hotter? More balance? Touch-sensitivity?

Still messing around with pickup height on the 85/15s pickups in my 2021 PRS SE Custom. I play everything from Classic rock/hard rock/80's hair metal and some Thrash rhythm & leads in a 2 guitarist covers band. I do use the volume knob here and there to roll back. I'm hoping for more versatility out of this guitar and was debating on getting the PRS S2 5 way blade switch installed along with the PRS volume and tone pots and the treble bleed circuit that helps retain clarity of high frequencies when rolling down the volume pot.

Congrats on the new axe Charvel1975! You said the string height feels like it's raised since it was lowered, have you check the neck for relief? Could need a truss rod adjustment after acclimating.

I'd definitely play around with pickup and pole piece heights before opting for new pickups. If you do replace the stock pickups and want something similar-yet-different to the JB/Jazz, try a Custom Custom/PGn.
