Dear lord, I like this thing. 2015 or 16, cherry sunburst. Whatever the stock pickups are, they’re excellent. The split setting is authentic and funky as hell. The trem is nuts, good for all the subtle stuff, and up to Floyd tricks. Love the wide-thin neck.

Congrats on NGD!!!

I agree with you. I got one a few weeks ago, and am totally blown away by it. I just swapped out the stock tuners for locking ones. Awesome tone and incredibly easy playing guitar.

I've only had it since this afternoon, but I can really wail on the trem (which was very easy and quick to setup) and bend all over the place and it's staying in tune just fine. The previous owner put a fresh set of Elixir 11s on it, but did a really sloppy job of it, so the strings have been broken in pretty well with me taking them off and redoing it.

I'm going to do some filing on the nut to knock down the sharp edges on the corners, but otherwise, I'm having zero issues. The Grover Rotomatic tuners on my Schecter C-1 feel nicer, but the PRS tuners do their job just fine. Lots of people report problems with all sorts of tuners, but I think most of them never learned how to string a guitar properly. I've never had any trouble from any modern tuner since I started playing 25 years ago, these included. If I were to replace them, it would be with those open back Hipshot tuners, because I think they look cool, and I'm obsessed with lightweight tuners.

What kinds of tones are you getting from the pickups? I notice it only has one volume knob and one tone control. Is that limiting for you, or do you not care? I'm really intrigued by the SE Custom 24, and might get one down the line when/if I have the cash...

The neck is very clear, bright but not thin. The bridge is pretty hot, but really chewy with some gain. I believe they're the SE versions of the HFS (hot, fat, screams) and Vintage Bass. They're not worlds apart from what you could expect from a JB/Jazz setup. Not the same, but in that realm.

I'm a knob tweaker, and love different guitar's setups for different things. I was expecting to have to modify the tone control to only affect the bridge pickup, like on my Strat or (now traded) Tele, but I guess that's single coil thinking. Setting the amp to sound clear on the neck pickup does not make the bridge pickup into an icepick, so master volume and tone work very well. The split tones are excellent, and I can get really close to most of my favorite Strat sounds.

So far, the nut in mine is fine. The tuners have to be changed out. Very erratic QC. Some too tight. Some too loose. Yuck.
Schaller ones were a direct drop in, though.

The tones are insanely good. Everything from smooth jazz, to Santana, Allman Bros, and screaming metal it that's your flavor.

Mine also has coil split and the single coil sounds are really amazing. I honestly have nothing bad to say.

Thanks for this response. It's hard for me to stomach having to change tuners on a guitar at that price point. I feel like everything should work more or less and any changes I make are to soup up or hot-rod the guitar, not fix something basic like tuners.
