NGD: PRS SE Multi-foil

I know some hate the looks of this guitar, but I like it. Very unique looking and I like to be different. I'm taking it to my guitar tech tomorrow to get the nut shaped like he's done for my other PRS SE guitars so it will stay in tune when you use the trem, plus I'm having him add a treble bleed kit and replace the stock pickups with a set of chrome covered Alternative 8/GFS VEH pickups.

I believe so. The other PRS SE Standard 24 guitars are made in Indonesia I think, but this one with the foil finish is made in Korea by World Musical Instruments. It plays great, just that the nut is not filed good and not shaped good for any trem use. Once my guitar tech has the nut shaped like the others he's done for me it'll work great.

Yeah, everybody complains about the nut on those PRS SE's. It definitely was an improvement when I replaced it in mine. Consider swapping the tuners too. I noticed a much more noticeable change in tuning stability when I dropped a set of Grovers in my Nick Catanese, but that was just my experience.

That is an awesome finish! Almost all of my guitars show the wood grain but that doesn't mean I don't like solid colors...that looks really cool! Enjoy!

When my guitar tech reshapes and files the nut the stock tuners seem to work fine, but I'll probably end up replacing them with some Grovers at some point. I did that on a couple of my other PRS SE guitars.

He shapes the nut so that there's not as much contact area. Here's pics of what he did for my SE Santana and it stays in tune great now.





The Santana does have the Grover autolocking tuners, but he did the same on my Whale Blue Custom 24 with the stock tuners and now it works fine.

Very cool, very different guitar. I also have a pretty rebellious streak with the looks of instruments, so I get it.

I just like to be different. So many people play blues (my favorite music) with Strats, LP's, 335's and the like. I'll use my Pacificas or PRS's and always get compliments on my tone. I just don't like to conform...it's a rebellious streak in me I guess. LOL!!!

I really like the fact that PRS ran such a wild finish for their SE guitars, which are usually pretty staid aesthetically.

Lace has a set of humbuckers called Finger Burners in a "burnt chrome" finish that would match that guitar pefectly.

I'm likewise glad to see someone trying an unconventional look. I'm as much a fan of traditional bursts and 80s neon colors as much as anyone else, but few people rock truly unique-looking stuff.
