NGD - Schecter 006 Elite Diamond Series

This just came in last night, a Schecter 006 Elite Diamond Series. Its dirty and the whole guitar needs to be cleaned but it plays very nice! Mahogany body and neck with Flamed Maple top and a bound Rosewood board.

The neck pickup is a Duncan Designed and is kinda meh. The bridge pickup is not original and sounds halfway decent, but the make and model is unknown as well.

The neck feels great and just needs some cleaning, the action is set very well. Overall a cool guitar and I really dig the shape.

Any thoughts of pickup swaps? I have some spare Bill Lawrences (2 L500XLs, a L500L, a L500R, a L250XL and 2 L250s) that may do the trick. If it was an Alder body I'd go with the JB plus a Hot Rails or a JB Jr. but being Mahogany I'm not 100% sure I wanna try it out.

Any good HS (HH included) sugestions for Mahogany?

Thats sick! Not really digging the white switch nor the inlay but I really like the dark red and the flame top. Awesome new guitar, enjoy it!

The JB might not be bad. I had the regular Diamond 006 with a Duncan designed JB and it was pretty killer. The neck pickup was definitely meh, though.

Yeah, the neck pickup leaves alot to be desired. lol The current 006 HS come with a single coil without a cover on it...I won't know what model this one is until I swap it out.

I do miss having a JB, just not 100% sure of the Mahogany and set bridge...my JBs sounded best with a Floyd ;) lol

What about the "DiM'"-thingie you were trying to sell?
May be worth a shot...

I did think about that but I offered it to a forum bro and didn't want to install it before I heard yes/no from him. lol

I just thought about maybe a Parallel Axis Stack pickup for the neck... :D

Whoa dude, go all PATB on it, you won't regret it, I swear. A quarter pounder is going to work great with the PATB, too, and it will fit.

Oh, man!!! I've wanted one of those for YEARS!!! Same configuration and everything (only a couple years of HS config, they changed to HH for a while before discontinuing).

Congrats!!

Thanks! The shape really drew me to the guitar–one of my favorite looking bodies out there. A big plus is that its super comfortable.

I got it very cheap and while its kinda banged up and in need of a deep cleaning, it plays great and I can tell I will really like it with better pickups installed!

I am seriously considering that! But one pickup almost costs more than I paid for this guitar! lol Seriously though, I may just go that route, heard great things about those!

Beauty! Congrats!

I'll always recommend the Alt 8 especially in that wood combo.

Depends what you want though. I'd go Alt 8 / Hot Rails or all PATB like vinta9e said.

Or if you want to go Dimarzio: Super Distortion / The Chopper. The Chopper neck is awesome.

Thanks man!

I preferred the HS myself especially since I already have 2 HH guitars (well, one techically has a Humbucker sized P90...but still HH size lol)

I got this one for a very good price, especially for how well it plays! If you get a chance, get one–super comfortable guitar to play!

Oh, I've played one before. In fact, every Schecter I've put my hands on has felt incredible.

When I was shopping for my second guitar, I fell in love with the 006. They didn't have any Schecters at the local shop so I went with an ESP MV-200 (which was much cheaper at the time, anyway). I've been regretting it ever since.

I've been very pleased with the Schecters I've owned and played!

To me, they have some of the best looks out there! I love the Damien and Omen series as well (minus the bat and lady inlays.)

I've thought about getting one of these bodies and putting a Warmoth/Musikraft neck on it to get the specs I prefer on a neck (not to mention Roasted Maple ;) )
