Was looking at this guitar yesterday and didn't buy it, but as the night went on I talked myself into it. So I picked it up today.

Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block JR

For some reason it won't let me up load the photo, but this is what it looks like.

love that
what do you think of those ... Filtertron?... pickups
how does it compare to the standards ( Strat / Les Paul ) you have pictured behind it

weight
neck
sound

Re: NGD: Semi-Hollow Content

Gretsch knows better than to label those new pickups as Filter'Trons. They are designed to sound relatively conventional.

Alls hear is nothing but bad things about the Bigsby staying in tune.
Iffin' all ya wanna do is gentle warbles and trills, then maybe, but otherwise, I question your decision not to go with a stop tail.

Re: NGD: Semi-Hollow Content

Those are "Gretsch Buckers", they get put in a lot of Electromatic Gretsches, with "normal" HB routes. I was gonna put some in my CVT, except I didn't want to cut it up enough to fit them in there.

They're somewhat "brighter" than normal HB pups, I think GFS sells them (and I'm sure you can get them elsewhere too) Artec most likely makes them, as well as for 7878970 other companies. The general consensus around Gretsch people is that they're what you rip out as soon as you get home and get some TVJones'es instead. I had a Hondo doublecut LP that sounded really dark and muddy with whatever it came with originally, but it sounded great with the Gretsch Buckers.
Hope this helps.

Re: NGD: Semi-Hollow Content

These are a little different than the Gretsch buckers that are in my older 5120 Electro-matic. They are higher output and brighter with better clarity. I would say they are halfway in between a Filtertron and a medium output HB. It's fairly light, much lighter than an es 339. I'm not prepared to do a review on the sound, as I haven't had a chance to play through my band rig yet, but so far it woody gretsch tone. The neck is nato 24.75" scale with a 12" radius. They describe it as a thin U profile that to me feels similar to a Gibson 60's thin taper
