NGD Slash Anaconda burst Les Paul Standard!

After my thread about Slash's 1987 Standards a couple of weeks ago....I sold my Jackson PC-1 and bought this with the proceeds! Gibson Slash Les Paul in Anaconda burst. Of my three Les Pauls this is the best without a doubt (I have two classics, one from 2021 and one from 2005) - it just resonates so much acoustically. I love the other two but this is a little step up which I suppose would be reflected in the price, although this was "used" so I got it for £600 less than they cost new over here in the UK despite the fact it's almost flawless.
Have to say the rosewood fretboard looks and feels much nicer than the ones on my Classics. I thought it was a different wood but apparently they're the same, so I don't know if the previous owner used some kind of conditioner on it? I use linseed oil on my fretboards, and did that a few weeks ago on my 2021 Classic but it's nowhere near as dark, or as smooth, as the one on the Slash Standard.
Not sure if I like the Slashbuckers as much as the Burstbuckers in the 2021 Classic (they are fantastic!) or the A2Pros in my 2005 Classic, but they're certainly not bad sounding. Think I'll need to adjust the heights an pole pieces to get that sweet spot.

The only thing missing from the original package was the Slash plectrum pack. I'd love to get some (a pack of 4 Dunlop Tortex ones) but they are not available anywhere online!

I was torn because there was an Appetite Standard on ebay for about the same price but this one is apparently a limited edition colour so I thought it might end up being a little more collectable and it DOES look awesome! I really want a goldtop at some point too though...

I'm kind of surprised the Slashbuckers aren't the reverse zebra thing Slash typically is known for.

The zebras are on the Appetite version, but I think he's always kinda liked using the plain black, uncovered humbuckers on most guitars. A guy on my Facebook shared a photo of his Slash Anaconda, the Epiphone version, and he'd put in a set of the zebra Duncans but he wished he'd just left it as it was cos he preferred the look.

I read it in one of Dan Erlewine's books and have been using it for years - it's the raw stuff I think. I bought a big bottle about 12 years ago and the thing looks as full as the day I bought it because I only use a tiny amount and wipe it straight off with paper towels afterwards.

And I've read that lemon oil can be acidic and damage wood too lol, there seems to be all sorts of varying methods out there.
I should add, I only do it if the fretboard looks really dry!

Linseed oil is for furniture.
Fret Doctor / Bore Oil is for musical instruments.

Well, this is simply NOT true...I was talking about REAL lemon oil NOT lemon scented mineral oil. And mineral oil is NOT mostly water! Where in the world did you get that idea? If you are including that link as a reference to support what you said, you need to read it again (I agree that a lot of what is referred to as "lemon oil" is lemon scented mineral oil, but not all).

Because there is very little water in mineral oil, it doesn't penetrate wood as well as real lemon oil or other good quality fretboard conditioners...it mainly sits on the surface.

I also agree with Dr. Henderson's assessment of linseed oil (as I stated in an earlier post in this thread). It seals the wood surface and forms a varnish-like finish. That's the main reason why artists/oil painters (and fine furniture makers) use linseed oil. Not so good for rosewood fretboards however. Boiled linseed oil is perhaps a bigger culprit of this, but raw linseed oil will also form a varnish-like finish...it just takes a little longer than boiled oil.
