NGD! Squier content

Re: NGD! Squier content

Instead of swapping out the pickups, all you have to do is swap out the Pots . Squier standards are built with 500Ks which ,when you go to adjust the tone on them, really don't do anything, thus leaving you with that bright tone.
Go and order some Fender 250's and put them in instead . You might have to widen each hole a bit, but you can do that with a knife and it's not difficult to do. I've done it before and right away the difference was very obvious. Trust me on this one, okay ?

Yup, those are AlNiCos in there, they're not too bad. Get some good pots and caps and you're good to go. If you want to do that, PM me, I've got some Bourns pots and Orange Drops, I can put together a kit for you.

Re: NGD! Squier content

Dawwww :3, Thanks guys. I'm gonna have drop in a bucker though :I. I'm gonna save the pickguard though. This is gonna be a multipurpose guitar for sure.

Re: NGD! Squier content

If you put a full-sized bucker there better get a new pickguard, cutting up the old one won't look right, although, if you do, get it in black again, it looks great aesthetically as it is.

Oh yeah, Im not cutting up another pickguard after the last one I did. :smack:

Re: NGD! Squier content

I'd still swap the pots. Makes a difference. From there if you still want tochange pickups then do it. Swapping electronics can be a ton off fun. But as previously stated, please keep the black pickguard. It looks really nice like this! Enjoy the new guitar!

Re: NGD! Squier content

As I stated earlier , swapping out the Pots will definately improve the sound of the stock pickups that are in that guitar . Why mess with that pickguard that's on there ? If you don't like the sound of the pups after changing the pots, go to E-Bay and get a set of Fender Tex Mex pups. You can get them really cheap on there for like 60 bucks a set brand new, compared to Musician's friend or GC where they're asking close to 70 bucks . Tex Mex are IMO, just as good as the Texas Specials and have a lot of bite to them.

Re: NGD! Squier content

if you already have a humbucker guitar, I strongly suggest keeping the single coils on this one.
